Wow dudes.  It's not as if I expect a high standard from National Review, but rightly or wrongly I usually consider it a bastion of slightly-more-thoughtful conservatism, when compared with Fox News, talk radio, etc, if only by virtue of its content being less disposable.

Anyway

Obama is a biracial 40-something, and is therefore a Communist.

Wow.  I cannot fathom how someone can write the phrase "half black/half Jewish, red diaper baby" for a mainstream (albeit extremely conservative) outlet and not be fired.

Quote
Political correctness was invented precisely to prevent the mainstream liberal media from persuing the questions which might arise about how Senator Obama's mother, from Kansas, came to marry an African graduate student.

O RLY? i was under the impression that political correctness was invented by the right wing to demonize people for trying to be sensitive to other people's feelings. of course, considering this guy is trying to "persue" [sic] the question of how obama's parents met, with an eye to confirming an obvious racial stereotype, then i guess it makes sense that he'd use "pc" as an excuse for being unable to fully "persue" his inquiry.

That article is incredible.  The 'that's incredible. I can't believe that I just read that' sort of incredible.

I mean, I don't know why an author would choose to take that path...  Why not just point out that Obama's memoir admits that his mentor was a communist party big wig.  That seems more direct, more damning, and it doesn't, you know, strip all credibility from the piece, the way that his 50's-esque hating on interracial families does.

Any publication that uses the phrase "liberal media" in earnest is not worthy of any time

Ugh. The Michelle Obama/Condoleezza Rice link I posted above I actually found via National Review, too...

hannah, that reminds me:

lynching? really, bill? oh, olbermann's gonna have a FIELD DAY with that one. no fucking way bill's not the worst person in the world today.

i totally called this. not only did olbermann make o'reilly the worst person in the world, he had something else he was mad at o'reilly about (concerning the dustup between bill clinton and an obama supporter a couple days ago on a ropeline at a clinton speaking engagement), so he talked about that when he called bill the worst person in the world, and then came back from commercial break to make his entire next segment about the o'reilly lynching comment. it was amazing--he actually showed a clip from a bush speech last week where bush specifically said "lynching is not a term to be referenced in jest". even THE PRESIDENT, that moron, disagrees with o'reilly's usage of that term. amazing.

Isn't Bill-O like the featured person on "Worst Person in the World" seven or eight times out of ten, though?

God, you guys, the coverage of this McCain scandal is going to get worse before it gets better.

Just when you thought media coverage of this campaign couldn't get less vital!

Seriously, I think maybe the best thing for my sanity is to just assume John McCain is going to be our next president, and stop paying attention to any of this bullshit, and just be pleasantly surprised in November if Obama or Clinton wins.

what makes you say that? i don't see it. right now i think obama's looking best, and clinton's looking worst, with mccain somewhere in the middle.

I'm just really, really afraid of what's going to happen once the GOP attack machine goes after Obama in earnest (if he gets the nom, of course).  In fact, I think the best argument I've heard for Clinton is that she knows what to expect from it.

Have you seen that startup freedomswatch thing run by Ari Fleischer?  It's budget is a quarter of a billion dollars.  Eep.

edit:  Which is a roundabout way of saying that I think that the crap strewn around this general election cycle is going to make the Swift Boat thing look serious and important.

In Ohio, Mr. McCain sharpened his attacks on Mr. Obama, accusing him of wanting to bomb Pakistan and of announcing it ahead of time to the rest of the world.
"That's naïve," Mr. McCain said at a news conference in Columbus. "The first thing that you do is you make your plans and you carry out your operations as necessary for America's national security interests. You don't broadcast that you are going to bomb a country that is a sovereign nation."

1)  Which is lulz because McCain has done just that with both Iraq and Iran.

2)  Apparently McCain will pursue Bin Laden "to the gates of hell" but not to Pakistan.

(also for clarification sake, this is a massive distortion of what Obama's said about Pakistan)

They're ridiculous over at the NR. I caught one of the posters posting 2 entries to The Corner back during the Iowa primaries. They read basically the same but the second one was the edited version. I was about one of the bloggers talking to a conservative in line while waiting at the airport about who they preferred. The versions differed in who the blogger preferred as a candidate, and how the blogger met the person (in one he was waiting with his wife and in the other he was by himself). I should have saved the page, because it is proof of their hypocritical nature, in how they attacked this dude for the very same thing with such poison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Thomas_Beauchamp_controversy

they removed the first story but i did copy and paste the text and sent it to them in an email with a ha gotchoo. of course, they did not respond! bitches.

anyway, i felt like the big man for a day or so after that.

but yeah, they're right bastards. i like it when they have have 'editorials' from the whole crew. everything on the site is an editorial! it's ridiculous! and they are trying to push these national review chosen fairy tales, all the time. it's hilarious! big leather bound books they apparently can't sell, full of republican fairy tales! it fills me full of glee.

It's supposed to be sort of the conservative version of mediamatters, except it will be run by Ari Fleischer (who's scary enough without a vehicle) and has, you know, an exponentially larger budget.  It's being set up as ground-zero for third party attacks on Democratic candidates (ie, they'll post a smear, Drudge and NRO and WND will pick it up, then Limbaugh will pick it up, then Fox News will pick it up, then MSNBC and CNN will pick it up)

fuck it dude, this process already occurs. i guess all this site will do is give drudge another source from which to pull his smears. i'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

ok!

big hill is wearin hawkeye colors! go hawks!
obama got a cold. he wants the pity vote. does he realize he's in texas?
SPANISH TV IS INVOLVED IN THIS ONE: a dude from univision spanish tv. i wonder if he and the two white hacks asking the questions would consider making a sex tape...as long as it wasn't as boring as their questions it could beat gene simmon's latest where he fucks with his shirt on and trousers drooped around his ankles - (google it bitches.)
they are talking about illegals. blah blah.
remember how big hill found her 'voice' in the new hampshire primaries? she found her Whine in texas. it sounded like she was gonna cry when she was talking about illegals.
obama needs to do something exciting, something that involves flourish: like pull out birds from the lapel of his suit coat, or eat a nathan's hot dog. cause this debate is dull.
the spanish guy is asking more spanish guy questions. by 2010 there will be 799 gillion spanish speakers in this country, when should we switch from english to spanish as the national language?
big hill just admitted she can't learn another language. has she heard of the rosetta stone? someone send her a link to pirate bay! you can dl it there!
obama saying the same thing but he's talking about children. awww. obama always knows how to push the happy button.
a commercial break!
cnn announcer just said there is a debate 'raging' online. oh, let me go check this 'raging' debate!
this commercial for clean energy is pretty interesting compared to what i was watching. but i wish obama was in this commercial.
a commercial about cisco?
a commercial for volvos!
toughbook laptps?
man this network is for yuppies. give me a working class network with commercials for kraft mac and cheese and the buxton organizer anyday.

we're back!
is lost on? when is lost on? i don't know so i keep dling them from torrent sites. what is going on with lost anyway? oh yeah, the debates.
big hill is looking more and more like the doctor who knows how to stop the outbreak in a 70's horror movie. all we have to do is listen to her!
oh damn, she just brought up the 'name one accomplishment obama's done" ... dizaam. hitting with monkey fists!
obama looks pissed. he's going to rip out her spleen. he's making a list of what he's done. his 'accomplishments'. he brought up walter reed. he said they would say he is not just involved in talk, but takes...action.
obama's talking about change again. hope is just around the bend.
damn, he just said he's got every major endorsement from tx newspapers. how you like that, big hill. how you like that concealed weapon! it's texas style!
crowd is stamping feet like a high school basketball game.
the plagiarism thing has just been brought up by the white lady who Asks The Questions.
obama is like, words are important, words matter! what? he's shining it up, but the shit tastes the same. he's calling it silly! the words were given, not stolen. now he's changing the subject. talk about hope obama! sigh.
