Frank and I finally got our engagement rings.
We decided to get similar, but not matching, white gold bands. We had to special order them because we're so classy. It confuses the hell out of people b/c they look like wedding bands.
Here's mine (excuse my greasy, nasty hair):
See, it's polished on the outside, brushed in the middle with a ridge down the center.
Here's Frank's:
His, too, is polished on the outside, brushed inside. It's hard to see, but his goes all concave and curved in the middle.
I have no idea what we'll do for actual wedding bands, but I sort of like this idea:
, but maybe not this particular wood.

I like 'em both, Katie. Classy. I don't think I said it elsewhere due to the craziness of the past month but congrats!

You and your lady should do wood rings, too. We can form a wood ring club.
Oh! And thanks HM!!

I like the idea of wood rings! I hate diamonds in all form so I don't ever want a diamond. (I'm not dropping hints here, I swear.) I do want something unique, I know that. Like OMG WEDDING BAND TATTOO!!!!!11111

Congrats to all the recent delightees--Sarah, Hannah, Katie, Miles! I also like the wood rings, that probably beats my hypothetical-if-I-ever-got-married contemplation of a ring-tattoo.

Just had some good news from my opthalmologist. It seems that my visual field is now two nice round circles again, whereas before the op my left one had a kind of bite out of the top left corner and a big old blind spot on one side.
To be honest, i wasn't really conscious of any impairment when I had those other tests, but it's nice to know it's improved anyway.

I'm looking forward to this weekend (Veggie Bite with Stephanie! amazing weather! Richard's birthday!) and also Tuesday! My mom will be here on Thursday and even though I saw her 2 months ago, it feels more like 6. The weather is fucking amazing lately (the high is 54 for today!) and while I'm bummed about missing spring in Chicago, this is still nice.

Nick, that's wonderful.
And, yeah, the weather is pretty grand today. As of March 31 I may very well be considerably less unemployed than I was yesterday or since the middle of December, too, which will be nice. And J's twin will be in town this weekend, and he's a cool guy, and then my mother will come visit for a few days, and she's a cool dame. I'm feeling okay. Thanks, sun.

Yes, I think I'll get me some crappy tickets to this myself.

Bad seats at the O'Keefe aren't all that bad though. That's where I sat for Tom Waits in, I guess, '99 it was, and also I had opera season tickets when it was there (it's too expensive in the new opera hall for my blood, sadly). Not great, but you can see and the sound isn't awful. Well, compared to the alternatives at that size, anyways.

well that's good news. my one experience at that venue was radiohead a few years ago. the seats were decent, but it's not like you can see their faces or anything. but the sound was still good and i guess that's all that matters.

Aaiight, so I got my Leonard Cohen ticket. Sheesh, even the cheap seats are expensive at shows like this.
