Where did you get those? That sounds awesome.
I believe she got 'em from
here
. The S&H was expensive, but with a bunch of people kicking in cash, I think it cost us 5 bucks per person to get us two berries each.

Can I grow the Miracle Fruit plant indoors?
A:
Yes. As an indoor plant, you must provide the plant with bright light such as a well lit window. In the summer the plant can be moved with care to a warm, lightly shaded spot.
omg, I totally want to grow these

I picked up some chipotle hummus for the studio today. Great with pita chips.

I put cilantro in it too, but it wasn't fresh cilantro so you can't really taste it.

My stepsister had her 21st last night, and I was in charge of food. It was good food. The best thing was crostini with feta and roasted red capsicum. Like amazingly good. And tonight for dinner I am putting the remaining olives, feta, capsicum, pesto and cherry tomatoes through pasta and it will be delicious. Other things we have are hummus, corn chips, mango, pineapple, giant nashi pears, much wine, beer, juice, spring rolls, samosas, bean dip, stuffed vine leaves, artichoke hearts and mushroom risotto cake things. I love leftovers from fancy parties.

Shit, I can't wait until the newest trend in critical theory is reconstructed-deconstructed-criticism (i.e. regular intellectual interchange).

I made
this chocolate cake
again (with some slight variations) yesterday. I had somehow foolishly assumed that, since there would be only two of us eating it, there'd be chocolate cake for days. I don't know what I was thinking! It's all gone now. It was delicious while it lasted, though.

On Top Chef season 2, for an ice cream challenge, one chef made avocado and bacon ice cream and another made bacon french toast ice cream, and everyone was all wtf? but clearly they were ahead of their time. (And they ended up being the two finalists.) Both of those flavors sound pretty awesome to me.

That's the dude who wrote the Perfect Scoop! It's become one of my favorite cookbooks since I got it, and was responsible for the ice-cream recipe I posted in the Recipes thread the other day. I also adapted another one of its recipes to make a Cranachan ice cream a little while ago, which turned out splendidly.
Also, since I wanted something rich and chocolatey to go with my pomegranate ice cream, I made alex's cake recipe last night. It turned out really well -- dense and hella moist.

Indeed, it was great! I think I baked it for like 25 minutes at 315 Fahrenheit. I used about a half-teaspoon of cinnamon, a teaspoon of vanilla, and about 2 teaspoons of whiskey (I didn't have any rum).

Oh yeah, that sounds about right. I actually could have given more precise baking instructions by now, since I have since made the cake in three different ovens (my parents' oven, which is kind of difficult to translate into baking instructions, as I'd mentioned back then, because it gets far hotter than the thermostat would have you believe; edison's place in Strasbourg; and my new place), but that is pretty much what my advice would have come down to, anyway.
The "cinnamon, vanilla, rum" is pretty much the staple of all baking in my family, by the way, to an extent that it didn't even occur to me to give precise measurements. I didn't have any rum this time either (and I'd also run out of milk, so I, um, ended up throwing in an extra egg for moisture), and at edison's place, I believe I used some waltnut oil instead for the same reason. It seems to me that this cake is pretty difficult to fuck up, anyway - it contains too much chocolate to ever turn out genuinely bad.
