My favorite kind of sugary/kind of healthy cereal (we didn't have real sugary cereal in my house) though is Peanut Butter Puffins. Think Cap'n Crunch, but with much larger, less abrasive, slightly less greasy, peanut butter flavored pieces. I can't really see eating it as cereal, but it's an awesome snack.

I'm not a huge fan of cereal, but I do quite like peanut butter crunch with chocolate milk.

Otherwise in the food world, we had spaghetti bolognese for dinner last night, and I had leftover spaghetti bolognese for lunch today, and I'd just like to ask santaclaustral to thank her city for me 'cause damn that is good stuff.

I had multi-grain toast with peanut butter and bacon on it this morning (this is what happens apparently when I get breakfast in the cafeteria and get tempted by surprisingly crisp bacon after already making my toast). It was delicious, and I also discovered perhaps the one context in which sweetened peanut butter is the way to go, vs. the just peanuts and salt variety, though I suppose you could just add some honey to the latter, a la Elvis.

Also, for all that hospital food gets a bum rap, it is wonderfully cheap.

It's sort of hit or miss here, but some of it is surprisingly good. Like the fish tacos were awesome, and I had figured that was a risk. And Thursdays they have omelets made to order, with all the fillings you want in them (including feta, mmm), for $2.75, and that kind of makes up for my typically having to come in early that day.

Last night I had a kind of artichoke lasagne that my flatmate's mother sent back with him after Easter. No bechamel sauce and no egg pasta. Instead, the layers between the artichokes were made of some sort of crepe-like ingredient. He told me the actual name of the dish (which is not lasagne but something beginning with a 'T') but I can't remember what it was. It was really good though.

So eating has been a bit troublesome lately, what with the excruciating pain in my mouth, but we were by Taco Bell so I figured I'd give it a try. Clearly the wrong choice, not because it hurts to eat (though it does), but because the motherfuckers clearly can't follow fucking directions and give me beans in my crunchwrap instead of beef. So hey I just ate meat for the first time in a long time. I'm not particularly pleased about it.

Hey guys you know the part in Uncle Buck where Buck makes this giant pancake for the kids for breakfast.

That's sort of what I did, and it's really delicious and then I sit down and there's a Shiner from last night that I didn't finish because I accidentally fell asleep and slept for 15 hours.  Breakfast of: giant pancake + warm beer = Score!

No, I mean, it was basically like TVP only it had a bit meatier of a flavor. I think if it had been chicken or something I woulda barfed. I would have driven back to Taco Bell just to barf on all the people that worked there.

(But I suspect it's hard to confuse chicken for refried beans, so the whole thing would be moot)

jack in the box (which i think is only on the west coast?) uses taco meat made with a mix of shitty beef and soy protein in their 2 for 99 cents tacos.

yup, it's only on the west coast.

i can say with confidence that taco bell uses grade d meat (with no soy added in) for their tacos because i worked there and saw the boxes the stuff came in.
