Dudes, there are situations where you may need a glass of cleanish urine. There are also situations where you need to urinate really badly and a bathroom is not available. In situations like this, I generally just go out the window, but what if there are no windows, or there are only windows that do not open? I'm just saying, give dude a chance here.

Sorry, chances are given to people with sense enough to discard their own waste.

Back in college, I used to regularly pee into a bottle, because I lived in a two-room suite thing where I had to walk through another dude's room to get to the bathroom.  I urinate kind of a lot, so I didn't want to disturb him by walking through his room all the time.  So I'd use a really big bottle, then empty it all at once.

The most troubling thing about your roommate's glasses is that, unlike my bottle, there's no cap or lid.  Which means the urine smell is likely to permeate his room.

My old roommate used to take long baths, hours-long, and the apartment had only one bathroom.  Sometimes my only recourse was to urinate into an alternate container, like a 32 oz plastic cup.  But I'd wash the cup real well afterwards and thought it was usable again.  Is there some irreversible chemical reaction that occurs when urine hits a surface that makes that surface unusable ever again?  Or are you guys all just "ewwww, piss cup!"

CUPS OF URINE.

It has nothing to do with the cup.

Oh, dude's a freak, don't get me wrong, with his excretory offerings on the shrine of the god of letters.  Just some of y'all are acting like you can't wash a cup.

hahahaha.  Yes, I totally understand the bottle thing, he has done that in the past and I don't give a damn.  But when my personal cups are involved it's kind of gross.  We have a dish situation where everyone uses their own, loosely, so that we know who's dishes are dirty in the sink.  I guess since all of his cups had pee in them already he started using mine.

I would say that you could just wash them out really well and it'd be fine but I would have to have no idea which ones were peed in and which weren't because every time I would sip from one of the pee cups, even 20 years down the road, I would say "Patrick peed in this," and shudder.  HE claims that since pee is sterile it is totally fine.

edit to say yes that part of his room is like a goddamn litter box, smell wise.

I don't know where this urine is sterile thing comes from--it makes no sense to me as an assumption. I mean while urine ideally doesn't have bacteria or whatnot, people can get UTIs and other infections of that system, so it's certainly possible to have bacteria and other things in there. But the point is, there shouldn't be anything really nasty in there, unlike other bodily fluids.

It's sterile, but you can't just go around drinking anybody's urine.

Containing bacteria != sterile.

So apparently urine is only sterile when it leaves the kidneys. Once it leaves the body, all bets are off (including once it touches skin on the way out, or even hanging around in someone's bladder can do the trick).

no, no it's not.

edit: and, not to drag another thread into the mire, but honest-to-god one of the mods needs to just fucking exclaim who it is so we can have a good ol' 17th century style public flogging.  Screw fairness.
