I am annoyed and disgusted with Dominick's.  That's the grocery store near my apartment.  We hardly ever go there because it is such a shithole but I wanted to pick up something breakfasty on the way to the bus this morning.  I snapped this shot in the bread aisle.

I wonder though if sending this picture to someone might result in the store getting cleaned up.  Like the Health Department or Dominick's corporate or something.

The mall near my school is all about being upscale and is staffed by snooty older women. I've never been to a mall that was so resistant to hiring young people. Only the teen clothing stores will even consider it!

If I worked at that store (and not in a management position) I think I would derive great amusement from waiting to see how furry and discolored that thing got before someone complained. The fact that it's still out there speaks just as much about the apathy of the customers as it does about the employees.

I recommend the president of the corp, cc-ing an investigative reporter from your favorite local TV station or newspaper.  or if you're feeling like being nicer (don't know why you would), the manager of that particular store.

What happens at 7am, when that call about the moldy bread comes in?  WHO DO YOU WANT ANSWERING THAT CALL?

Anyway, without further spillover from another thread, if I bring it up to a store manager right there and then, I get either an apology or a shrug and probably the bread gets cleaned up, but from experience their shitty slovenly ways will definitely continue.  If I bring it to the attention of their corporate office, does a fire get lit under somebody's ass?  Maybe.  But I have to think they have regional managers who go into that place from time to time and nothing ever changes.  Is it a health violation?  Do I bring it up to the health department? Does that get something done?  Does anybody anywhere care?

okay no, that is just freaking disgusting.  as some one deathly allergic to mold (or at least i think i am) that pictures gonna give me nightmares. 

i would send it to a local news channel.  maybe wgn, so i can watch their investigative report out here and be like I KNOW THAT GUY!  seriously, if you bypassed the store and it got on local tv, the public would have a freaking outrage and that store would be in serious trouble.

I'm thinking the best thing to do is to contact the local news stations. Most of them have those "HAVE YOU BEEN SCREWED? CALL THE ANTI-SCREW TEAM! WE'LL GET YOU YO MONEY!!" teams set up to deal with stuff like this. The health department obviously isn't taking care of this and the corporate management will just cover it up. There was actually a thing on the news here about stores in the ghetto selling spoiled food maybe a week ago.

oh, also, contacting the corporate office of the people who make the bread may get you some action--that's worked for me in the past.  they don't want people thinking it's their fault.  maybe take another picture with their label more prominently displayed.
