the battle is clearly and inexorably headed for a Pollo vs. Dave wizard battle on some craggy summit backlit by bolts of lightning

That's all them, dude. (Though I did have to wade through 49 pages of the ancient "quotable LPTJ" thread to find those beauts.)

i heard sam nunn's name tossed into the veep discussion this morning. that'd be cool. i've heard jim webb, too, and that gets the thumbs-up as well.

i really don't see a shared ticket between obama & hillary, at all. whoever made the point above that if clinton gets the nomination, she will have gotten her hands VERY dirty doing so--that's a good point. in the unlikely event things turn out that way, i hope he'd tell her to shove it up her ass.

i wouldn't be totally opposed to having clinton on as vp, but i don't see it as very likely. i'd much rather edwards get the call, or one of the guys mentioned above.

Quote from: Howard Wolfson
Our point here is to point out that after a campaign in which many of the questions that voters had in the closing days centered on concerns that they had over his state of preparedness to be commander in chief and steward of the economy, he has chosen instead of addressing those issues to attack Senator Clinton. They've announced that this is what they are going to do. I for one do not believe that imitating Ken Starr is the way to win a Democratic primary election for president. But perhaps that theory will be tested.

oh ffs.

wow, it's like they've forgotten who went negative first.

also, the more i hear about jim webb as vp, the more i like it, though i will miss him as senator in va. i guess we'd have to have a special election if he won the office? god, that makes me worry that george allen would run to get his seat back. we barely got him out last time. eeesh.

Hillary comparing Obama to Karl Rove was already overstepping the boundary of acceptability.  This is just absurd.

obama really needs to be keeping tabs on this shit. so at some debate down the line, when the subject of negative campaigning comes up, he can devastatingly RECAP all the fucking ridiculous shit she's thrown at him since super tuesday. one dumbass quote after another. i think even she would be surprised at what a foolish, spiteful mudslinger she's become.

I'm hoping Hillary brings up the Farrakhan endorsement again, so Obama can point out that she was endorsed by Rush Limbaugh.

They've both had some embarrassing endorsements

None as embarrassing as Bush's endorsement of McCain, though.

I love that both the Obama and Clinton camps have started using the "Do you guys really want a third Bush term?  Because that's what McCain represents" line, because, seriously -- that's all the info a lot of voters are going to need in order to make up their minds.

In fairness, Clinton's camp never said shit about the Farrakhan endorsement; it was a story from the deepest depths of the conservative noise machine, and it's entirely that asshole Tim Russert's fault for actually giving a serious airing.

Russert really let me down in that debate.  I've always liked him + I think he's about the only redeeming quality of the entire NBC News department, but he was just brutal to watch that night.  Plus, while I think the accusations of debate bias against Clinton have been waaaay exaggerated throughout the campaign season, he & Williams were especially obnoxious toward her in that one.

Meet the Press is still the best sunday show, though (after McLaughlin, natch -- self-parodying regular panelists and 1980s production values for the win!)

When members of an administration can call you up and not even have to ask if the conversation is off-the-record, you're no longer a newsman, you're a fucking tool.

Its kinda crazy that russert is viewed as a conservative mouthpiece.  Most republicans I know think he's a tool, and I know a lot of republicans.

(Putting 'gate' on the end of every scandal is the stupidest fucking convention ever created).

Also, as far as media fairness is concerned.  If Barack Obama were to switch places with McCain, or hell, even Hillary Clinton, this Rezco business would be on the front cover of every major publication in the country.

Uh, no.  The Rezko business is only ever insinuated about because it's most damaging as insinuation.  If the story gets a serious airing, there's just simply not any evidence there.

As for Russert, it would be more accurate to say that he's is a Bush administration mouthpiece than a conservative mouthpiece.  He would probably kiss just as much ass under a Democratic administration.  He's a schmoozer and a hack more than anything.
