My point is that Obama appeals to the educated affluent, while Clinton appeals more to the working class and implying that working class people are being duped somehow because they identify more with her than with him is fucking stupid
do you think the ones who support republicans are being duped? this is an honest question.
I'd say the argument is stronger that they are being duped, because they vote Republican mainly on the basis of "values" or "morality" while working class Dems vote Democratic because the Dems talk about things like labor and the middle class. The Republicans convince working class peeps to vote for them not because they say they'll improve working class/middle class life in America, but because they'll keep the fags from getting married and the Arabs at bay.

If you vote for a mainstream candidate or party for any reason other than to keep the worst one out, you've been duped.
'Why do they vote for the lizards?'
'Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, the wrong lizard might get in.'
I don't know enough about policy differences between Obama and Clinton to judge which candidate would work hardest for the poor, although the fact that Clinton was on the board of Walmart doesn't fill me with hope. But if- note,
if
- Obama would be the better candidate for the poor (i.e. the least worst lizard), then the working class has been duped into supporting her.
Well, I know what I'm trying to say.

Hillary sportin' some bling in that pic
it helps show her working class cred.
The Newshour with Jim Lehrer did a profile on Ohio voters, and one of the groups they showed were these 50 year old women from "an upper middle class suburb": Shaker Heights, sitting around (in their 'salon' one presumes) and one of the women said "i just see more of my myself in Hillary"
really????
ya think???? i couldn't watch more of the election night coverage after that.

Hannah! A couple weeks ago at work I thought to myself, what would Republicans call a Clinton/Obama ticket? And I meant to post it here but like most of the insights I glean while turning a wrench, I forgot. Thanks for reminding me!

anybody hear what the final delegate split for wyoming was? 8-4 or 7-5?
last i heard it was 7-4, with one county left to report. obama won that county by a landslide, pushing him over 60%.

well that's obvious, but i still don't understand the rationale. it was 7-4 with 96% of precincts reporting. then obama's lead
increased
, and she got the last delegate.

it's got to do with percentage points. 50-50 is 6-6, obviously, but beyond that, it gets complicated. obama could have only won by 55-45, and they still would have split the delegates 6-6. in order for him to take 8 of the delegates, he had to get 66% of the vote, and he didn't, so even though he was well beyond the margin it took to give him 7 and her 5, they still split the delegates that way because it didn't cross the next percentage margin.
this is how i understand the whole delegate-math thing based on reports chuck todd has given on msnbc. i could be slightly wrong where the details are concerned.

Well Rove is like the tactical nuke of GOP election strategy. You know the Republicans are feeling pretty damn beatable this time around.
In other news, Clinton suggested that Obama should give in now and be her veep. Stupid suggestion or merited?

Stupid. Why should the first place candidate be the veep for the second place candidate? Also, Obama is about to CRUSH her in Mississippi
An American Research Group poll conducted March 5-6 of likely primary voters had Obama leading Clinton 58 percent to 34 percent

Stupid. As fuck, really. I mean I know it's all about saving face, but she could have at least entertained the possibility that she might not win and said something like "I'd be honored to have him as a ticket-mate, either way," etc. Too bad.
And yeah, it looks like a team ticket will never happen. Dave, milly, et al were right. And once again, it's too bad. They would be, as Bill said, just about unstoppable.
