i just saw "overnight". man, you know, at first troy duffy doesn't seem like a bad guy, per se--a lot like a lot of my friends. but quickly his rants about how awesome he and everything he's doing is, and how lame everything else in the whole world is, get annoying. it's sad, in a way, because i liked pretty much every other dude in the movie who was associated with the guy, and felt really bad for them all that they got sucked into a whirlwind of bullshit that promised everything and at the end of it all left them broke and back in the same blue-collar world they'd started out in. troy, though--he got what he deserved. because goddamn if he didn't EVER shut up about how great he was.

It's not really a remake. It's one of those deals where "I bet everyone who watched Johnny Five come alive is dead! Let's do it again, but worse!" "And the people who watched it have children now and no capacity for critical judgment!"

Seriously! 1986! Boy, at this rate, I can't wait for the remake of Ghost Rider to come out in a couple years.

I watched Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay on Saturday. I love the Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and have seen it about 10 times. The sequel is not quite as amazing, but I still had a good time.
I'm pretty sure that some of the Extreme douchebags made cameos as guards at Gitmo. Very appropriate.

I'll probably wait till it hits DVD then get together with like ten friends to watch it--that's how I saw the first one and the group experience kinda makes that movie. I don't think it would be as funny watching it alone in the middle of the day.

I saw it this weekend, and in a lot of ways, I think it's better than the first one. It's definitely paced better. It's just more focused on politics than burgers.
Also, after seeing that and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I gotta say I'm pleased by the increasing normalization of male full-frontal in mainstream films these days.

Word. I'm thinking that if nothing else comes of the 21st century, as far as progress is concerned, then at least we can say we were the century the human race became a little less cock squeamish.

As long as by the 22nd century we've got 4ft cocks, whilst cats and dogs are fighting out between themselves for the right to mine on the moon.

Quote from: Dawson and Merrill, 2105
While the perspective of the typical 20th-century American was generally that a larger cock conferred more status, few foresaw the coming wave of megacocks that have become
de rigeur
among certain entertainment-based social groups today. There were exceptions, of course: MonsterCock.com provides an early example of extreme phallophilia, but many have convincingly argued that the emphasis on delighted surprise which characterizes these videos belies a conveyance of novelty and diversion, rather than a true shifting of bodily norms.
Not until 2078, with the advent of affordable cosmetic RNA therapy, did gigantic cocks begin to enter the mainstream pornographic media. As Dumont argues in her now-famous 2083 analysis of
US Department of Justice v. Blazzer Video
, it was Daniel "Swing Batta" Mendelsohn's self-transformation that ushered in our current era of hyperporn. Previously, the only attempt to augment physical reality had been through clumsy silicone-based surgeries and the occasional computer-generated video disc. With the advent of hyperporn, humans opened up their current economic sphere of dominance, and were thus able to leave less profitable activities, such as mining and the service industries, to the Canids and Felids.

Whether it be the 20th or 21st century one thing will remain the same. Greg Nog will own the internet's ass.

Man, that would not be cool for me. My cat is cool and all, but if she was any bigger, I'd have to keep her on a chain outside and throw meat to her like a tiger. She's feisty and I've got the scars on my arms to prove it.

So is
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
good?
I really wanted to go with to see
Harold & Kumar
but I had no money. If only it were playing at the Oriental or the Downer so I could see it for free! No chance of that, though.

It's all right. A lot of really fantastic moments and funny lines on a moment-to-moment basis, but no real structure. In some ways, it kind of feels like a really fantastic standup routine forced into a film. I think it woulda been way better if I'd been high.
