My buddy david plays as Spoonboy.

Here's a video of one of his new songs. It's good.

Also, Matty Pop Chart covers Under the Sea.

Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor (also known as spooky organ song) with 8-bit animation graphics that shows all the voices in the song and stuff. It's really some sight. How do you even write a stuff like that. Bach was something else.

That guitar is so pointless. He can't play more than two necks of it at once, so who cares?

Hah, I've seen that before. That guitar totally justifies its existence.

"Friends Of The Enemy". Short doco in two parts about the early Dunedin scene and Flying Nun. I've never seen this before, looks like it's from the mid-80's maybe. Great find.

I think the thing taking Michael Angelo's multi-necked guitars down a peg from pure, self-indulgent rock n' roll awesomeness is the fact that he clips lights to the headstocks.

My big transcendent youtube moment of the day was watching this:

Bukka White - Aberdeen Mississippi Blues

If any of you can make sense of what he's actually playing on guitar in this song, I'd love to hear about it. That said, it's definitely awesome.

He's just bangin' away in an open tuning, right?

Reminds me of this awesome one (Bukka White's in the audience):

Yeah, but what timing is the song in? How many bars are there in each verse? What chords is he playing, especially when he does that rapid back-and-forth banging on the strings thing at the beginning of each verse? These are the questions I can't answer.

Also, that Furry Lewis video was downright bizarre, in the awesomest way possible.

Shitty handy-cam footage, but still totally badass.

I had never seen nor heard the Rolling Stones' "Harlem Shuffle" until today, and my life was much the better for it. This is nearly as lame as that Jagger/Bowie "Dancing in the Street." Not a high point for Ralph Bakshi, either.

Yeah! What the heck, right? My dad asked me once to independently assess whether the Harlem Shuffle was better than Savoy Truffle or vice versa, before I'd heard either. "Savoy Truffle, by a landslide" is a once-in-a-lifetime sort of phrase. Old man probably had a chuckle about that one.
