Mostly for GI & GCR's sake these. I was supposed to go down to Wanganui late last year for Stinkfest (cassette label Stink Magnetic 15 year celebrations) but couldn't make it in the end due to various shitty reasons. But some footage has turned up. Three of my fave NZ bands - none of whom are still operating (at least in this form) sadly. Fuck, I wish I'd been there. I only have T-shirts for 2 NZ bands and they're both below.

Motherfucker! I've left my headphones at home so I can't listen to those right now. Scott, did you ever see the Shambolics play? One of Smiley's old bands, with my friend Rick playing fuckin free jazz saxophone. They were epic.
whoa i had to retype that because i used the word 'fuckin' about six times.
Edit: hey I think this is the footage my friend Andy shot, I remeber I was Jealoussss he was going to this

My buddy david plays as Spoonboy.
Here's a video of one of his new songs. It's good.

Also, Matty Pop Chart covers Under the Sea.

Sleep live @ ATP Butlins Minehead, UK, 2nd show 10. May 2009

Shitty handy-cam footage, but still totally badass.
Man. That first "PROCEEDS THE WEEDIAN...NAZARETH" sent a monumental chill down my spine.

I really wish no Stoner Metal band would exist past sleep.

So you
don't
like High on Fire? Even though they're Sleep mark 2?

I'm totally neutral on the existence of High on Fire. I like the first two records okay, but
Blessed Black Wings
and the one after that don't do much for me. I prefer
Jerusalem/Dopesmoker
to
Holy Mountain
by a million miles though, which sorta explains why I dig the direction Om took the Sleep sound in way more than what Pike and posse did with it.

So... you can hit me in the face because I did not know that High of Fire was one of the guys from Sleep. Iin fact, you may hit me again for I have never heard an ounce of High on Fire before in my life.
Who on Fire? Is what I'd like to know.

If you like Sleep, High on Fire is definitely worth checking out. They're not completely straight-ahead stoner-doom, which I prefer by a mile.

Also, Kyle, have you heard Om? It's the other two dudes that were in Sleep. Which, yes, someone alluded to above, but still.

I dig Mark E. Smith's Music Machine tribute in that video.

I posted some John Fahey some months ago and Andrew then posted some great stuff in response. Seems like there's even more stuff on there now.

16 minutes of genius lap-sliding awesome. Footage is kinda grainy (which is fitting) but the sound is perfect. Check that shit at about 14:30.

I really don't like Lady GaGa at all, in any sense, but even I have to admit that the video for "Paparazzi" is brilliant even if I can't stand the song.

I know baggin on "the kids" is lame to the extreme but every now and again my jaw just hits the fucking ground at how unsanely and beautifully bad some shit can get. Can someone please tell me why the fuck they're playing their guitars like this?
Watch it all the way through.

You may reach that point at 1:00 and think you've seen the best shit but just wait til 2:45.
Awesome eh?
