Because apparently the site's first big hit is an advice column, Dear Sugar, whose author revealed herself yesterday. I'm not suggesting the column is stupid - I don't read enough advice columns to judge. But the fact that Stephen Elliott & Co. have sold upwards of 1,000+ coffee mugs with the Dear Sugar tagline, "Write like a motherfucker", is just sad.

C'mon, MFAs. There are so many better coffee mugs out there.

I still fundamentally don't understand what the Rumpus is, why it's good or bad or nothing at all. I have gone there maybe a dozen times in the last year and each time I have gotten bored within 15 seconds and clicked away. It might be the color scheme. The more I talk poetry with people, the more ambivalent I feel about this fact.
