I think I've mentioned this before, but that hits pretty deep, because I am completely in love with the concept of oatmeal, but every time I try to eat it it just makes me gag. We've got a pretty disappointing relationship.

First, oatmeal is awesome.  So are grits.  yum!

Second, it's rain-tastic today.

Apparently, this is the scene from this morning two blocks from our practice space:

Also, said practice space is flooded, but apparently without damage.

We were camping and dodged nearby tornados and thunderstorms all day.  We actually took a three mile hike in the sunny 90 degree heat while the next county over had a tornado warning.  However, we got our comeuppance at about 10 p.m. last night, when torrential rains struck.  We huddled under a makeshift lean-to and sang whatever songs we could remember (see liquor thread for some background on why our musical memories may have been impaired).  The rain continued for the remainder of the trip, and this morning we packed our exceedingly wet and muddy items up while it continued to downpour.

burger king called today to regretfully inform me that while my application was strong, they were able to fill their available positions with people who would be able to work all year.

I am in a panic that is headed towards grumpiness.

Yeah beth. The reason they don't want seasonal employees is because they want to be able to drain the life out of you into their flamebroiled whoppers.

trust me, it was very low down on the list of places to apply to. Very low down. Very very very.

It's just that, you know, NOBODY WILL HIRE ME. How am I going to pay for college. I hate everything. etc.

Dude, Burger King called you back just out of sheer courtesy? That's kind of amazing when you think about it!
