Oh, I know that Boots too...  And he's a close second to that guy I'm related to, in the my-favorite-bootses competition. Third place is a toss-up between Bootsy Collins, Boots the generic Cat, and Bootes.  The constellation.

ah, ok. well, um, the youngest son, who plays an important role in the story, is named gage. spelled that way, not like a tire pressure gauge. that's why i figured it was the movie, not the book, that prompted this one. this is the first time i've heard of that name anywhere other than that book/movie.

I've never heard of it either. That I remember anyway, as I did read Pet Sematary a million years ago.

But the all-knowing internet reveals:

The boy's name Gage \g(a)-ge\ is pronounced gage. It is of Old French origin, and its meaning is "pledge, oath". Gage has 1 variant form: Gaige.

But then, I notice from the comments section of another one of these baby names sites:

I am due in September and just found out it is a boy. We are going to name him Gage Tyler. My husband has been dead set on this name since he saw Pet Cemetery as a kid.

And on the eighth day man created coffee makers in his own image. And yea, the roasted fruits of the coffee plant poured from the sky into thine grinder. When man woke, he exclaimed 'Hark! The brewing of the glorious beverage is upon us!" And it was good.

One of you trashed Milly's Kid's name, and you're going to get you asses beat.

My soon-to-be-born niece's middle name is going to be Addison, but it's 'cause her dad is an insane Cubs fan.

his is spelled jaedon! though i had nothing to do with his name. i wanted to call him eldon.

I'm at home, reorganising, trying to fit my stuff into some semblance of normality. It's semi working.
Outside the birds are all happy because its the finest days in a week or two -  not great, but not freezing or raining.
I looked up from re-wiring the stereo to fit my ne pre-amp in, to see this crazy parrot on the tree outside - red head, yellow shoulders, purple wings and tail, green stomach. This is not normal for Wellington... So I went outside and spent ten minutes surreptitiously following it round, then losing it and listening to the tuis singing very happily instead....

securing hipaa database access and helping doctors and gov contractors retrieve patient records. there's some other stuff too, but today was orientation and so is tomorrow till noon, so i don't yet know what else is on my plate. but so far, i'm totally impressed. you can tell a lot by a job by the people in orientation with you. the software architect next to me, in a wrinkly lemon shirt, was into pynchon and used phrases like paradigm shift. i may kiss him tomorrow. re: no dumbasses in sight.

Was discussing possible baby names, and my husband seems to be able to only think of names for girls -- we briefly considered Charlotte -- (he was thinking of Charlotte's Web, I was thinking of Charlotte Rampling). If you know what my married name is you will understand why I decided against this name. I am all for naming a girl Bernard Jr. I am worried that if we don't pick a name in advance I may try to name the kid after somebody really inappropriate if I get high on medicaments.
