I love the way Bernard always slots her big pieces of news in sideways...
If so, shouldnt this be in the congratulations thread?

I think you should actually name your girl "Bernard" in homage to your internet self. That would be awesome. (For everyone except your daughter that is.)

I agree with Jess, and will up the ante with a child named Roy Biggins Riggins, if only one of you can convince Lucy that that idea is sound.  Jess, I'm lookin' at you.

Was discussing possible baby names, and my husband seems to be able to only think of names for girls -- we briefly considered Charlotte -- (he was thinking of Charlotte's Web, I was thinking of Charlotte Rampling). If you know what my married name is you will understand why I decided against this name. I am all for naming a girl Bernard Jr. I am worried that if we don't pick a name in advance I may try to name the kid after somebody really inappropriate if I get high on medicaments.

I actually think Charlotte + your husband's family name would be pretty badass, myself.  But for boys, I think the obvious choice is "Erskine".

Am I allowed to ply her with alcoholic beverages shortly after she gives birth? Because I'm pretty sure that's the only way that's going to happen, ha.

Greg- you do know, I presume, that a previous president of Ireland went by the name of Erskine Childers?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erskine_Hamilton_Childers

And if that's not funny enough for you, ruminate on the meaning of 'childers'.

(Yes, your offspring will [would] be known collectively by the same name as our old prez- "May I introduce the Erskine childers?')

Or:
Quote
BLESSED are al they that feare the lord, and walke in his wayes.
For thou shalte eate the laboure of thy handes. O wel is thee, and happie shalt thou bee.
Thy wife shalbee as the fruitful vine, upon the walles of thy house.
Thy children like the olife braunches rounde about thy table.
Loe, thus shal the man be blessed, that feareth the lord.
The lord from out of Sion, shall so blesse thee : that thou shalt see Hierusalem [Jerusalem] in prosperitie, al thy life long.
Yea that thou shalt see thy childers children : and peace upon Israel.
    Glory to the father, &c.
As it was in the beginning, &c.

It seems to be most popular in the American South; usually, if people are of a literary bent, they associate the name with Erskine Caldwell, who is a double-Erskine, given that he went to Erskine College.  However, he never did, to my knowledge, drive a Studebaker Erskine.

So I finally talked to our new landlord today, and she sounds really awesome. We're going to meet this weekend to discuss what needs to be worked on around the house, etc.

I am posting from my balcony. Got wifi out here and an outlet, and as of this weekend two surprisingly comfy chairs (I recommend target for your outdoor furniture needs), a small table, and two planters with a tomato plant and some herbs each.

This spot is all about the late afternoon/early evening sun (facing a little bit north of west), which is kind of awesome for hanging out after work.

I know this sounds silly by comparison, but I am equally excited about posting from my desk. As in, I have a desk! At home! It only took me four months after moving in!

Finally have enough shelf space, too. And sun-blinds.

I'm happy that in a couple of weeks I'll meet Alex. And in a week I won't have to take anymore exams for two years.

Exams are over!  I'm fairly certain that I did alright on the last two as well!

I look foward to gettin' my LPTJ on with much greater frequency over the summer.  I'll only have 2 classes to worry about.

The only shitty thing is, my last exam was on last Thursday and summer classes start this coming Monday...that's some weak shit.  Only a week off?!

I got my mark back from my religious studies assignment! Due to a long series of fuckups its two weeks after everyone else got theirs back, but its back, and my tutor says

A-
Excellent research assignment here. The abstract could have been trimmed significantly.
.........
But overall, a very well-researched and well-written essay. Cheers Smile

No, a bunch of the properties sold. I'm not sure how many Bob had, but the woman who bought ours bought seven from the estate total. When they closed, she sent us a letter, basically saying she was planning on fixing some things up, etc., and also DO NOT CONTACT AL ABOUT THESE PROPERTIES HE NO LONGER HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THEM and it wasn't bolded and underlined but it may as well have been. So that was pretty funny.

How was your show last night? Sorry I couldn't be there!
