YO dudes I just watched this again:

and I got to say I love this damn movie. I have had long talks with close friends about it but man... John McClane is just a normal dude, an everyman, who gets caught up in some SERIOUS SHIT. I mean the movies get progressively unbelievable but in that first one you are there with him, it is you and John, and you feel that shit 'cause he is just a cranky workin' dude... and plus the scene where the bad guy is holding the gun up to his wife's head and he is all ready to surrender and is putting his hands behind his head and OH SHIT HE HAS DUCKTAPED A GUN TO HIS BACK and he slings that shit out and BAM right between the eyes!! And also his ever-prevelant cigarette craving is totally human. You watch that shit and it is like, "man if I had just shot a bunch of terrorists I would totally need a smoke." and so your Id and John's Id are one.

Love it.

Yeah, having emphatic opinions instead of polite, milquetoast parlor-room sighs is "not cool, bro!" Buncha self-fanning wilting flower NPR liberals up in here...

I'm digging the conflation of Victorian sensibilities, frat-boy culture, and Terri Gross.  If only he'd mentioned something about Pitchfork hipsters, I could have filled my Easy Target Bingo card.

i actually think that's a pretty fucking good movie.

but i can't deny the unintentional hilarity in seeing kevin bacon onscreen in that movie.

even more amusing: "the burning", a "friday the 13th" knockoff featuring jason alexander (with hair) as one of the camp counselors.
