any of you guys who are already into metal, if you don't have the album I'm mentioning in the entry that's up right now, you seriously need it. the album originally came out in '98. it is pretty much flawless.

i had never heard of this band. my only point of reference is angelcorpse--i have one of their albums. don't listen to it much anymore, but nonetheless i have it. i think i'll have to listen to it again as well as checking out this album.

it's absolutely excruciating to me that I have only discovered Nuclear War Now so recently
these packages are beautiful
edit: I noticed these records in my local shop the other day and just sent them an email to reserve them for me if they still have them.

Perhaps you just haven't listened to the right metal, what metal are you listening to?
I could send you a mix

Yeah? That would be lovely. I've listened to a lot of things recommended here. I bought Pig Destroyer, Morbid Angel, I forget what else. I tried to get stuff in a variety of styles in case the problem was just that there was some special sub-genre I wasn't into. A mix would be really great, because I've spent about $240 so far trying to acquire this taste and it hasn't really happened, and school is about to start again, and I need to eat.

what I'm into right now is early-nineties tech-death like Cynic and Atheist and I can't imagine anybody not being able to totally groove to it

I performed my Cynic mitzvah last week, when, before my friend/singer went to Wacken Open Air I made absolutely sure that he listened to Cynic, and that he saw them at the festival.

Ok, I'll give it one more go. I think it's just a question of being able to tune my ear to it, like tuning an instrument.

That's how it goes. In all honesty I don't get how I once didn't like this stuff. Not being into it simply doesn't make sense to me anymore.

Yeah, it's weird. I can say I like it probably because I've been getting into more and more complex progressive stuff over the past few years, but I couldn't tell you why I didn't like that sort of thing in the first place. Maybe because I thought it was pretentious or something?

Or because we don't naturally have the tools to properly digest it.
