i listened to this album again last night for the umpteenth time. each listen brings to the fore something i hadn't yet noticed: timing, subtle shifts in the bass, frequency interplays, whatever. i think this is an incredible incredible work. why has no one brought it up?

I think we talked about them briefly somewhere. I like them, although I haven't listened a bazillion times or anything.

Ellaguru talked to me about them, and then I listened to them and talked to him about them a bit more. It's a good album. Strangely seems to make a virtue of its own insubstantiality.

i think that's one of the aspects i so admire. it's so muted. the writing isn't particularly stunning, yet it remains indelible. there are three instruments (maybe two?) that play incredibly spare arrangements, managing still to convey a sense of resignation and a certain darkness. these two things combined make for some magnificently understated work.
