Ah! Long fucking day at work! Fire and knives and people yelling in Spanish, sweat and tears and a hundred pounds of chicken...

Powers Irish Whiskey, how I love thee. Thine amber hue and slightly sweet, slightly smokey taste (while concealing none of the whiskey flavor) makes me love thou as much as a man can love something... liquid.

Flying Dog's Amber Lager is pretty tasty.

but

I have no whiskey

I got distracted actually reading the strip, which I dont think I ever have
Its pretty fucking good, isnt it? To the "Thing you discovered which everyone has known about for years even" thread, or whatever its called.

YAY!

Black cherry vodka and diet coke is not that bad, btw, kind of like grown up cherry coke, if not anything I'd ever pay for.

I just tried rum and cherry coke the other day, which (rum and coca-cola) resulted in me humming "Common People" for the rest of the evening.

Brew Week has got my palate so fucked up I drank Miller High Life Light tonight just to give my tongue a break

This is where you lose me. I don't understand why one would choose something like that over, say, water.

Cuz I still wanted to get drunk, silly

PBR is great if it's ICE-fucking-COLD. any warmer than that, and it goes downhill fast.

maybe that's true for most drinks, though.

That is definitely true for cheap shitty beers.  Not so much for good beers.  I'm not hating, it's just a fact.  If something tastes good, you don't want to numb your taste buds while you're drinking it.

And don't get me wrong, I'll drink an ice cold PBR on occasion.  And as far as cheap shitty beers go, High Life is one of my favorites (Old Style is another).

fuckin slow tonight, ennit?  found a beer at the 7-11 I hadn't had before, it's Blue Point "Hoptical Illusion" IPA.  Not bad, a bit of hop aroma, big maltiness, some hop bitterness to back it up, 6.8% ABV.  A decent IPA, not going to bump anything off my regular rotation but glad I tried it.  Out of Long Island apparently.

I'm at my fucking office doing some work before heading home, wtf?  I don't know what is up with me sometimes.  Pitchfork was fucking fun though.

I couldn't believe it either, honestly.  Normally that 7-11 doesn't carry anything decent.

Despite having liked a couple of their other beers in the past, I'm 2/3rds through my first bottle of Breckenridge's Avalanche Amber and it has a gnarly (gnarly like carbonized skunk ) aftertaste that ain't cuttin' it for me.  This might be the worst aftertaste I've tasted in a beer.

i just went to the package store and, trying to both a) avoid dark beer, and b) drink something new, i left with a 12-pack of Franziskaner, the "classic bavarian hefe-weisse." i probably won't drink one until tomorrow night, so i don't know yet whether i like it. any testimonials?

i don't know why i picked it. there was a monk on the label. i guess the monk spoke to me.

Dude I still have a few of your Old Styles.  I'd like to say that they'll still be here next time you come over, but we both know I'd be lying.
