"I'm gonna tinker with myself 'til I say only promises" (Thread of Strong Drink)

A new alcohol thread, as the last was at 20 pages.
I bought a lot of beer today. The Greek-side family reunion's this weekend, and I thought I'd bring up some brews that my family can't usually find in New Hampshire. Now I just need to decide which of these to bring to the reuinon proper, which ones to give to my sister as a "Thanks for letting me stay at your house" gift, and which to leave in New York.

I suggest you keep the Bourbon County Stout for yourself.

Actually, I bought two of those! I was thinking one for me, one for the family. It's good?

Ah, that's the question that's been asked since the beginning of time.

They used to be separate, back in the day. One was like, "A fascinating drink, full-bodied mouthfeel, with notes of açai and a hint of leathern strop" and the other was all, "OMDRK WHAT fuk WHAT SONDS GOOD HEATHCOT SISTR"

Well, I bought some cachaça (no caipirinhas though) and a new one, Elisir M. P. Roux. Dunno about the last one save that it's Provençal, comes in a liter bottle, and is 47% alcohol. No one in the store had heard of it, so I bought it anyway.

I had a couple pints of Aris at a Greek place in town tonight, it's this Greek lager and pretty dang good!!!
Also had a bottle of Bordeuax,
man it was GOOOOOD, probably the best bottle of under-10$ red I have ever had.
Now I am drinkin' some whiskey... Tullamore Dew, how do I love thee, let me count the ways. It's a beautiful thing. Some people prefer Bushmills to Tullamore or Jameson's. I do not trust these people. They are Protestant Robots.
More about the greek restaurant in the food thread.

It's a pretty special beer. I think if you put it head to head against that Oak Aged Yeti you have there, itself a fine beer in the same style, you'd find that the BCS is going to be a significantly bigger, better beer.

Also, tonight:
5 bars
17 beers (11 of which I took pictures and detailed notes)
5 free tasting glasses
1 1/2 packs of cigarettes
$60
8 great peeps
It was a hell of a night and as soon as I get all of this pictures uploaded to Flickr there is an amazing beer post coming

That reminds me of an Absolutely Fabulous episode where Edina tries to explain what water is to Patsy. "It's a mixer, Pats. You have it with whiskey."

I drank Kentucky Tea (bourbon, cointreau, muddled lemon, sugar, ice) last night - then I professed love for my lady. A lot. She laughed at me quite a bit. It was great.

So I had the Bourbon County Stout yesterday, and I actually prefer the Oak Aged Yeti Stout. The BCS is just too thick, high in alcohol, and sweet. It's got some interesting flavors of Mocha and smoke and such, but I feel like they're all having to play second fiddle to the alcohol-syrup feel.

Haha, yeah! I remember those; they used to have em at the carryout down the block from us years and years ago. They were $1.99, then, and it was a hell of a deal.

Never try Three Floyds Dark Lord Ale then
BCS is a real treat on a winter evening. I'm not sure I'd enjoy it that well in July either.
