By the way, you need to come visit on August 10. Your favourite pub is celebrating its 25 years of existence! With a special beer and all.

And anyway, I need someone to go there with, it's been far too long. Not quite sure I want to go there by myself, even if I'm sure Hugo would be thrilled to start a conversation (now that he has been reassured that I am not, in fact, a smart girl).

Nah, my friend is actually only going there in mid-September, so it would be at some point in October/November. No definite plans made so far, but I'll certainly keep you updated.

They were worried at first about Heineken Light b/c they didn't want to push in on Amstel Light's sales...  So that right there... really, as you can probably figure out, it has nothing to do with calories/alcohol (since that product already existed) and everything to do with marketing.  On a related note, wally, I think Long Island, NY is a bigger market for Heineken than your entire country, so I wouldn't expect to see it there anytime soon).  In any case heineken light is very, very successful.  Go figure.

disclaimer:my brother and my neighbor both work for Heineken NV in some capacity and I get all kinds of free beer (not just Heineken) and windbreakers and various other things as a result...  Like, I used to have a pilsener urquell guitar.

They have some bar near me, with an extensive choice of beers, where they register you and keep a list of which you've had and which you haven't that.  So whenever you open a tab, it prints out like a pokemon-style checklist.  I thought that was odd.
