That's the way to learn to type. You pick one key and you really settle into it.

It was the only one he could reach, that and the 'escape' key...

so I'm going to order some new glasses tomorrow!  I'm more excited about this than I should be, but it's been a long time since I got new glasses.

I'm going firstly with a pair of bendy black titanium frames and I'm considering getting a second pair just cos it won't cost the couple hundred bucks it normally would.

I'm thinking about these, but will they make me look like an asshole?

They're on the 'buddy holly/NHS' end of the spectrum, but that's OK... I like both the ones you got, though I like a bit more colour in my frames...

Oh man, I want to have a cheap glasses party for my face. I suppose I should get my eyes checked first to see if my last prescription is still accurate before doing so. I hope so. It's annoying to get lenses changed every time I go to the optometrist for such small changes in prescription, but I can really tell the difference -- in headaches. Ouch.

I tend to go for plastic frames because they are nose-pad less. I thought I'd switch things up last time and got some wire, nose-pad glasses, but I never wear them and I should have known better.

My friend recently got LASIK and is doing really well with her eagle vision.

I dunno, I like wearing glasses. Whenever I don't want to wear glasses or want to wear sunglasses, I just switch to contacts. I've never really seen the need for LASIK. Plus, if something were to go wrong, my entire livelihood would go down the toilet.

I know that I saw part of a LASIK procedure once and it creeped me out.  They peel back layers of your eye and stuff.  Apparently you don't feel it, but you have to be awake for it.

For you it's eyes, for me it's fingers.

Last time I got my eyes checked, I talked to the doc about LASIK just out of curiosity.  He was basically like at my age (not yet 30), I wasn't really a candidate quite yet.  Generally, they wait until you hit like 40 and your eyes pretty much stop changing.  Cos like, if you do it now, your eyesight will be corrected, but their misshaping will continue and you'll just need glasses or another operation again by the time you're 60.

See, that's funny because I know at least 5 people who all had LASIK before 25.

Maybe it's just that you have really bad eyesight that keeps getting worse.

I'm just holding out for old age when I'll be able to laugh at all the people with reading glasses.

I've always been in the "it's not that bad, contacts correct my vision pretty well, I can find glasses I like, and with my level of correction it's pretty likely that I'll still need glasses after LASIK, and wouldn't it be annoying if I couldn't wear contacts?" camp. Also it would be bad if they fucked it up. Also I like having microscope vision. Seriously. Without my glasses/contacts I have really really great close vision. I love that. When something's too small for normal people I can say "hand it over" and read/do it. Also I get to post in the 'cool glasses' thread.

I like the microscope vision too.  It cane be useful when I'm trying to hand-sew something really small.  It's also part of my uncanny ability to untie almost any knot.

They came today!

I'm iffy on the second pair.  I feel like I look like Judah Friedlander or something.
