This is nice to see - Blood Ceremony is one of my favorite bands in Toronto, and maybe number one example in a hypothetical "Toronto music I like doesn't get attention" monologue. Sadly, Alia just skipped town for awhile, so I don't think they're playing or putting out anything else anytime soon, but I can't say for sure. The guys in this band are or have been, incidentally, part of No Dynamics and Rozasia, both immensely worth checking out.

This band is awesomely transcendent. Just when you start to think it might be some straight-up doom metal (which is still totally cool and alright with me), you get some rich, syrupy female vocals (that actually sound a lot like Beach House) and some awesome Jethro Tull flute. The folk influence is really prominent in places. This is like Fairport Convention if they delved into some serious sorcery and sold their souls to the devil a la Robert Johnson.

I'm looking at the Myspace page right now, and the songs posted there are really good.  Too bad I can't find any info about a domestic LP release...

You know what?  Fuck it.  eMusic's got it.  And now I do, too.

I'll look for the vinyl later.

Man, the more I listen to this, the more I love it. I love how bright the whole album sounds, avoiding the typical sludgy doom thing. The treble-heavy guitar and flute really lightens the whole thing up.
