"The 1930s fascists were expert at using all the most technologically sophisticated communications technologies—the cinema, radio, newspapers, advertising—to spew their destructive, hate-filled message. What they excelled at was removing the the traditional middlemen like religion, media, and politics, and using these modern technologies of mass communications to speak with reassuring familiarity to the disorientated masses."

That paragraph alone is astounding

Also:

"Even before the October crash, Americans had become ever-increasingly suspicious to all institutional forms of authority—from traditional political parties to mainstream media organizations to Wall Street executives, educators, and lawyers. As Harvard University's Center for Public Leadership reported late last month, 80 percent of Americans believe there is a leadership crisis in the countryAnd that research was conducted in the fall—before AIG, before Lehmann Brothers, before the public humiliation of Detroit’s elites."

1) You spelled Lehman Bros. wrong
2) They failed in mid-September

I just gloss over it, giggling at the childish diction.  Ever-increasingly?

He's also super proud that he could work in zeitgeist, you can tell.

See, I know I'm a better writer than this man. I just have to find something sufficiently stupid to say, and say that loudly and often, and I could have a career as a pundit. I'm sure of it.

Us using the internet to mock him probably just gives more grist to his mill. A mill which makes hilarious noises.

Check out this quote from his WP entry:

"[Web 2.0] suggests that everyone — even the most poorly educated and inarticulate amongst us — can and should use digital media to express and realize themselves. Web 2.0 'empowers' our creativity, it 'democratizes' media, it 'levels the playing field' between experts and amateurs. The enemy of Web 2.0 is 'elitist' traditional media."

Good god the "irony"

It's like the quotation marks are supposed to be read like those lightbulbs that pop up over cartoon characters' heads when they have a bright idea.

that previous article blucas quoted did a hilarious similar thing with the term 'West Bank'.  Yes, the soi-disant 'West Bank'.  It is well known that the very existence of the Jordan River is an Islamo-fascist conspiracy; the fact that the 'Palestinians refer to the region to the west of that river as the 'West Bank' is simply further proof of the insidious logic of Muhammado-communard doublespeak.

Mr. Obama,
I didn't want to remove myself from your mailing list, but YOU'RE THE FUCKING PRESIDENT ELECT STOP ASKING ME FOR MONEY MOTHERFUCKER
Best,
epd

My Friend,

In the time since the 2008 presidential campaign ended I have had a chance to reflect on many things. And as I said on election night, I truly cannot adequately express how indebted I am to you, my entire campaign team and my running mate, Governor Sarah Palin.

The road was a difficult one from the outset. Yet, your faith, your support and friendship never wavered. Just as I have proudly served my country for more than half a century I am as committed as ever to helping see our mission through.

So to continue the movement, I have decided to launch a new grassroots organization called Country First.

Today, I'm asking you as a friend and supporter to renew your commitment to our common goals by becoming a Charter Member of Country First with an online contribution.

Country First will allow us to strengthen our Party, better define our Republican ideals and message, recruit and back strong, dedicated candidates and continue our efforts to bring real reform to government by always putting our country and the noble ideals she stands for first.

Together, we can make government more responsive to today's problems and more answerable to the people. That's why I hope you will become a Charter Member of Country First and support our cause by following this link to make a generous contribution of any amount today.

With your help we can work to elect these new leaders to Governorships, Statehouses, the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 and beyond. Once in office they will become fierce advocates for limited government, economic opportunity, personal responsibility and strong national security.

On Election Night last year, I called on all Americans not to despair of our present difficulties but to believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here.

Today, I am asking you to join Country First to continue fighting for the worthy cause of revitalizing both our democracy and our Party.

Our goals will never be realized if your voice falls silent. You are the best hope for our country's success. Please stay in this fight with me; our country needs your service now as much as ever.

I know that together we can make a difference - we already have. Again, I thank you for your unwavering friendship and support.

Sincerely,

John McCain

P.S. Country First will serve as a powerful voice for the American people. It will allow us to get our Republican message out to the voters and elect a new generation of Republican leaders who can go to Statehouses and Congress to fight for all we believe in. Please join as a Charter Member of Country First by following this link to make a contribution today. Thank you.

Oh Sweet Mother of Christ

So apparently Joe the Plumber is going to be a blogger for Pajamas Media now (for those not familiar, that's the well-funded Glenn Reynolds/Instapundit conservative webring thingie).

Ahahaha these next four years are going to be amazing.

edit:

Oh Jesus, I just saw that he was joining them.  Then I actually read the article.  They're sending him to Israel as a war correspondent. ahahahahahahaha what the fuck

Quote
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Joe The Plumber is putting down his wrenches and picking up a reporter's notebook.

The Ohio man who became a household name during the presidential campaign says he is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for the conservative Web site pjtv.com.

Samuel J. Wurzelbacher (WUR'-zuhl-bah-kur) says he'll spend 10 days covering the fighting.

He tells WNWO-TV in Toledo that he wants to let Israel's '''Average Joes' share their story.''

ahahahahaha I can't WAIT to see those reports.

Bush junior's tie is unflattering.  Carter looks like a Christmas elf.  Bush Senior, Obama, Clinton, good wardrobes, pat yourselves on the backs, fellas.

I just figured he had gas--the looks on his, Clinton's, and GWB's faces sort of support this theory.

Richard Wolffe was talking about that last night on Olbermann and mentioned that it's an open secret in DC circles that Carter and Clinton hate each other.
