On Sunday, just like the old days! (NB this comment is not unrelated to the piece)

You know I'm certainly glad whenever anyone brings up Rorschach. I found it interesting that you mentioned the vocals always sounding like they had chorus on them... you mean before the throat surgery, right? The later-era vox just sound like blown-out howling. I like those vocals better, too.

yeah it's the Neanderthal split era stuff that sounds chorus-y but I'm pretty sure it isn't. I think he's just singing in a way that ruins your vocal cords.

I'm pretty sure that was the last session done before the throat surgery, which for the record wasn't for nodes or anything human-caused like that but for throat cancer. They had to remove half of his larynx or something like that.

I remember seeing Rorschach clear a packed room at a show at a chuch in Boston in '92.

Be prepared to pay through the nose for the original vinyl. Neanderthal stuff goes for a lotta money. Hell, so does Rorschach stuff.

One of my college friends was really into all the Gern Blandsten stuff.  He got me into a few bands, early Chisel and the Van Pelt especially.  He put on a Rorschach record for me one day, explaining "You know all those urban legends about how Ian McKaye can scream well because he got stabbed in the throat?  They can all be traced to this band."

I thought it was weird that Rorschach would be band #550 on that site until I saw that Minor Threat is #1.

I'm drunk and eating lentil soup.

If I had a slice of rye bread I could die happy.

I'm sure there are many variants (just as there are of the traditional reuben), but what's usually on a veggie reuben?
