That's a tough question. It's like, do you want to eat the really amazing ones now and shoot your wad, or eat the relatively less awesome ones first and work your way up to Thin Mints and Samoas?
I vote for Strategy #2.

Girl Scout Samoa Cookies
6 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 of 14−oz can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups toasted coconut
1 cup semi−sweet or milk chocolate chips
In 2−quart saucepan over medium−low heat, combine butter,
sugar and corn syrup. Heat to a full boil, stirring constantly
with a wooden spoon. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Slowly pour in sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly.
Continue cooking over low heat until candy thermometer reaches
220−228 degrees. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Beat until
creamy. Immediately stir in toasted coconut and mix well.
Spoon mixture by teaspoonfuls into circular mounds onto
buttered waxed paper. Flatten slightly and with the end of a
wooden spoon poke a small round hole into the center of each
cookie. Cool completely.
Melt chocolate chips and drizzle thinly in stripes over
cookies and let chocolate harden at room temperature. Store
in airtight container.

So in pollo's world, up is down, black is white, and Thin Mints and Samoas are the worst Girl Scout cookies? I'm glad I live back here in the regular world.

i make reverse girl guide cookies at christmas: dip freshly baked chocolate wafers in melted white chocolate flavoured with with peppermint oil. then i crunch up a pile of candy canes (in bag, beat with rolling pin) and alternate between sprinkling them with pieces of candy and candy dust. yummm.

Whoa, I know I talked smack about Samoas upthread, but that's when I was under the impression that Caramel De-Lites and Samoas were the same thing. Turns out that they are not! Even though they look alike, and are the same basic cookie, they come from different factories, and Samoas are
dramatically
better. Slightly more and darker chocolate, softer caramel, and more evenly toasted coconut. Whenever I've had Caramel De-lites, they've seemed slightly chalky and stale, and you'd practically break a tooth on the caramel, but Samoas are delicious. This changes everything!
I still think I'm more of a Thin Mints fan overall, but now the Samoa lovers don't seem like crazy people to me.

Hmm, interesting. I wonder if there's a similar issue with Tagalongs/Peanut butter patties, because I thought I used to like Tagalongs, but the last two times I've had PB patties, I've thought they were solidly mediocre for what should be a delicious cookie. I mean, it's pb and chocolate—how hard is that to make work? But they just aren't that good. Maybe Tagalongs are better, although it's also entirely possible I used to think they were delicious, since as a kid, any contraband junkfood (we weren't allowed to have that kind of stuff at home) was exciting.

Thin Mints are still the worst. heather had it right; you can recreate the experience of eating that busted ass cookie any number of ways. Tagalongs forever!

I think this might actually be the case. I'm not sure, because it's been quite a while since I've had Peanut Butter Patties, but they always seemed like crackers with giant gobs of butter on them, coated in chocolate, but this box of Tagalongs I have has more actual cookie and less peanut butter that I remember, and so taste more like eating a cookie than eating a spoonful of peanut butter. So something similar might be going on.
The Samoa/Caramel DeLite thing is definite though; I had a box of Caramel DeLites like two weeks ago and they were the same nastiness I remember, but this box of Samoas I have now is MONEY.
Also pollo still a BITCH

A thing I just did was nuke two Tagalongs for 10 seconds and put them on top of a scoop of vanilla gelato.

I just thought the flavor was lacking, especially for something that has no reason not to be awesome. The chocolate wasn't very chocolately, the peanut butter was also kind of eh, and the whole thing was distinctly unexciting. The one good point was it being vaguely salty, but I'd way rather have a reese's product of some sort any day, or put some good pb on some other cookie. Or eat a thin mint, which would also be good with some vanilla gelato.

Totally agree with this. It was always Samoas out in Arizona and they were by far my favorite. The box I got in Jersey recently was Caramel De-Lites and yeah, they're not near as good.
I still like them - coconut, caramel and chocolate are my favorite dessert ingredients - but I am not going to actively look for more like I would if they were Samoas.
