Xbox people - how good is the 360 at playing OG Xbox games? The official Xbox site mentions that you have to download an emulator but it also implies that you probably already have this emulator if you've signed up for Xbox Live and downloaded any updates.

The two games I'm primarily looking to play are Crimson Skies & Sid Meier's Pirates -- both of which I could get on the cheap at GameStop or download for 1200 pts each off of Live -- anybody have any experience with playing either of these on the 360? Glitches, problems, etc.?

i've only played soul calibur 2 and shenmue 2 on my 360 but both of those worked okay for the couple of hours attention they each received before i decided playing old games was better when i was holding an old controller as well.

this list includes details of both games you mention, as well as details on how it works:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360

it might do the "there is an update available for this game" type thing when you put it in, but it shouldn't take long.

edit: both the games i played were original xbox discs, not downloaded from the live service, and all the info above relates to original discs and not downloadable content.

I've been playing my old Dynasty Warriors 5 game for the PS2, and I wanted to share with you the greatest videogame character name ever. (though not really much of a character I guess as he's more of a secondary or tertiary boss type who basically gets mowed down by you on your way to killing his boss, but bonus points for the name being from a historical work of fiction and not just a gag the developers stuck in there)

I want to believe you, milly, but:
let this textual agreement count as a legally binding contract that we shall kill more zombies, on the 16th or before.

Also, you should buy jeb a headset as a housewarming present.

Does Xbox Tetris have a head-to-head multiplayer option?

The original Fable is on sale for 800 points. Worth playing, yes/no?

Also, there's a trailer up for the next Fallout dlc, The Pitt. It comes out next week! It looks way better than Operation Anchorage, which was mostly good for the gear you get.

I was glad to find out about Dong Tuna! I just couldn't come up with a sufficiently funny joke in response to your post! It's at the top of the list for potential pet names.

Can't wait for the Pitt!

If you want to check out Fable, I'll send you Fable II. I bought it used and have hardly played it.

A and I are currently obsessed with Puzzle Quest.  It's a Bejeweled-style "match the colorful things" puzzle game but in the context of an RPG - you battle your opponent, garnering elemental mana to cast spells and activate special abilities.  You gain experience during the fight and extra stats if you win in a sufficiently glorious fashion.  It's really addictive.

(I'm probably way behind the curve here seeing as the sequel came out, but I thought I'd share)

Bioshock is going for pretty cheap. Is it a good investment for a summertime game?

I've had that one for a while and I really like it.  I think the best part though is the epic Conan-style soundtrack while you're basically playing a silly puzzle game.

We've been turning off the music and blaring whatever comes to mind as is our way.  Might have to revisit that.

Yes, I think the story is what really held it all together. The gameplay is great, but most people I know were interested in the complexity of issues the story draws. It's along the lines of utopia vs. dystopia, in a broad sense. But in the game, they also have you look at your morality. Sure, if you had a bad day, you may want to make a semi-evil influence with a smite or two, but it really made me see how dynamic the game really was. Plus, the powers you gain, the era (I believe it was set in 1960 but environment is 50s), the music, and the voiceovers are all great.

I would recommend it to anyone.
I could tell you more if you like. I don't like giving away much when making recommendations. It is an FPS with slight RPG elements. And it's awesome.

Some of the visuals are just brutal, too.  Visceral and completely in keeping with the moody atmosphere.  I think it's the only FPS-style game that my girlfriend likes (though she's sometimes a bit squicked out).

I've been convinced! I really enjoyed the good or evil choices you got to make in fable, so if it's a darker version of that I think I might just swoon.

Thanks, gentlemen!

I was just asking about Fable because it's downloadable cheap right now and I sort of missed every video game ever because I never really got into games until milly made me buy my XBox and Fallout and zombies.
