There's no Steam for Linux.

Although the fact that my boot time has more than doubled overnight (!) is starting to make me consider restarting my Dwarf Fortress fascination and having a working machine again.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there is Steam for Linux. Because I'm pretty sure there's Steam for Crossover Games, and Crossover Games is built on Wine, and there's Wine for Linux. So that's all conjectural and I've never done it but there you go.

Hey, if I wanna forward my msn email to my yahoo mail account, which account do I use to accomplish that? The one being forwarded or the one getting forwarded to?

THe account that you are forwarding from usually has an option for it. I'd be surprised if either doesn't. I forward mail from one of my gmail accts to another, and from my university-based account to my gmail acct.

They're both telling me I can only forward to other accounts under their umbrella (msn to hotmail, yahoo to yahoo). Yahoo gives me the option of upgrading, but I ain't hearing that.

Oh well, I shall continue to check two accounts every day, I suppose.

even if you were able to do it, the account you weren't logging into would probably be disabled after 90 days of "inactivity" anyway. best to either keep them both, or make sure that eveyone you care about starts using just the one you want to keep, and leave the other to die.

I have 5 e-mail accounts that I check every day, along with various others that I might only check once a month or so.  2 isn't so bad.

My hotmail account was my 2nd ever. I've had it since 1998. I'd be kinda sad to see it go. It's where all my "unprofessional" stuff goes. My Yahoo account is the one that's buttoned-up and presentable.

This is why mail clients beat webmail any day.

I actually get an appealing Tonka Trucks feeling from Gmail that makes me adore it.

You could try disconnecting your antenna. Sometimes that helps.

Could someone with Mac or A/V knowledge help me figure out why my HDTV won't display from the Macbook via a miniDVI-HDMI adapter? I'm willing to concede that maybe it's the adapter itself, but I'd like to eliminate other variables. Basically the TV seems to recognize the input, but all I get is a drab green screen. It flickers for a moment whenever I change display resolution on the Macbook, but always comes back with the same blank green screen. I've tried resetting both devies and changing the resolution via System Preferences. Anything else I should try?

*Bah, fixed it. Just had to turn on display mirroring and then screw with a couple settings. It looks good!

i skimmed your post and for some reason I thought I saw the word 'cheeseburger' so I went back through and read carefully.  Now I am disappoint.

I think it was 'green screen' that triggered my cheeseburger heuristic.

Listen here, you little queer.  You'd better stop calling me a cheeseburger or I'm going to sock you in the god damn mouth.

I realize this thread is too long, but I'm too tired to think up a witty new thread name.  feel free to do so if you like.

my work PC has suddenly started misbehaving:  whenever I double click to open a file in Windows Explorer, it opens a new window.  and yes, i checked the folder options settings, and they say 'open each folder in the same window.' but the folders, they are not opening in the same window.  any ideas why this would happen?

(people often sit at my computer when I'm not here and mess with things, so somebody may have fiddled with something.)
