I'll go ahead and break this thread in by saying that tomorrow I have an oral exam which is all but a formality and I am completely done with school for at least a year. I'm pretty uncertain about that. Not for any particular reason, I guess: my money situation is absurdly good, the academic record I've compiled here is fairly impressive (though not as good as it could have been had I not worked as much as I did), in the last half of the year I had a language acquisition breakthrough where I feel I'm starting to gain a somewhat frightening command of the language (I seem to measure my mastery of languages by knowledge of archaic words; at some point this year I woke up and realized I knew 11 words for different kinds of camel, 4 words for sheep, etc.--a Saudi in my program accuses me of being a 'closet bedouin') and one of the biggest names in my field has taken me under his wing. Usually I love the transience that comes with moving, finishing things, quitting jobs, etc. Quitting my job a couple weeks ago was great, but this time around it seems kind of unfulfilling.

I am certain that congratulations are in order, Richie. What are your plans beyond tomorrow?

I might move into the Borg Ward. I don't know how to feel about this. It's only 150 bucks a month and it's all awesome folks, but a.) I suck at communal living, b.) there's no shower, c.) there are shows regularly. On the other hand, it's cheap, it's near work, there are friends around. I'm not a 19 year old punker anymore, though.

It's a temporary solution, but it's probably better than staying in that apartment. Will you be paying rent at two places?

Scott and I hung out all night. Watched The Wire for about seven hours. He's leaving for Philadelphia tomorrow. He just left here a little bit ago. I gave him my old computer, and told him that I would miss him a lot, which is true. Dude's my best friend, and it's going to be fucking weird--to say the least--without him around. It seems there's a lot of change in my life right now regarding relationships--C, Scott, and then my therapist, who has finished her residency training and will be moving on at the end of June. Uh.

I found out a new website today where I could sublet my apartment the couple months I'm going to be gone, and put it up and got 2 responses this evening. It's great that I might be able to recoup a substantial chunk of money that would otherwise have been lost, but it means I'll have to pack most of my belongings into storage in addition to getting ready to leave for 2 months, which is more work than I wanted to do in the next week or so.

Get pissed off about the circumstances and pack away the unnecessary half of things tomorrow. Just say to yourself, 'god fucking dammit' over and over and over again. This happens to me all the time, where I think I'm gonna relax very well. I do relax eventually .

Sage advice as always from Ignatius, but most of my family + hm and her mom are going to be here tomorrow. I wish I'd known about this damn site a couple of months ago.
I've already got a good deal packed, though. So it will probably be ok.

I was on the radio this morning, but the stupid governor took up part of our time so it was a little rushed. also, I hadn't really gathered my thoughts properly, so I sounded a bit dorky, OK, probably more than a bit dorky, especially next to my muy suave, fast talkin' boy.
