Yeah, it's a fucked-up system, but Kentucky exploits it with a particularly frank shamelessness. Which, maybe Calipari deserves brownie points for being honest about it, but still. Everyone's culpable for this broken paradigm, Kentucky, the NCAA, David Stern, even my ACC sacred cows. I dunno, it's permanently damaged my ability to rouse interest for college hoops outside of UNC/Duke. More time for baseball!

They should start televising D III... But then there would be money to be made in D III, and.

One of my hopes for the ongoing increase in 24-hour cable sports networks is that more lower-division college athletics end up on TV, if only for schedule-padding. You can watch CIAA bball on Bounce-TV now. And if I had Bounce-TV or even knew what Bounce-TV was, I'd watch the fuck outta some CIAA bball. Iggy maybe one day you can scope out some CACC (aka the Catholic Conference) games on CBS SportsNet 3, like Georgian Court v. Felician or University of the Sciences v. Holy Family.

I could probably drive 20 minutes and see half of those CACC games in person. Those are like we-advertise-on-county-buses schools.

I walked by the remains of a burned couch on my way to work today. Things here have been totally crazy, especially last night. I live in riot central, so I crashed with a friend about a mile out, but we came downtown briefly to watch it all until it just got annoying (which didn't take that long). On campus, it's been strangely quiet today, like it's vacation. That quiet part is actually kind of nice, if a bit disorienting.
