I mean, this is everywhere, not just the South. Missoula, MT has a good Indian restaurant. My point was that Atlanta has a
lot
of good Indian restaurants. As does Chicago, as does DFW, as does NYC.
Oh man, if only I could find some good Indian food in this city. There are a bunch of "Chinese-Indian" restaurants, all of which look very much Chinese so I've never tried them (not a huge fan of any of the Chinese food I've had so far), then there is one incredibly overpriced Indian restaurant right on the most touristic square in the centre, and then there is one other place that is quite decent and affordable but is also quite different from what I associate with Indian food (which, needless to say, is a very Eurocentric view); closer, in fact, to my idea of Indonesian food, which is alright of course, but means that it is more likely to fulfill my saté cravings than my curry cravings. And there's no shortage of places that would fulfill my saté cravings!
Moral of the story: I need to move to the American South.

Wow, great food is one of the best things about NY. My visits tend to revolve around finding places to eat and then trying to get people to meet me there. Also NY has wonderful bars. One thing I miss about being a secretary is learning the neighborhood where I work really well, trying to eat at every place within walking distance. Something about the soul-crushingdom of secretarial work made those lunchtime jaunts so pleasurable. NY would be a fantastic place to do that. High turnover, you'd never run out of new joints.

I like food.
There's a parking lot on the eastern side of downtown Richmond that has a double wide which a man sells pork bbq out of that is amazing. Someone come here with a car and drive me there.
..and stop by my house on the way, cuz I wanna go too.

For real. I worked at 21st and 6th for the better part of two years, and lunchtime excursions to various eateries, bars, cafes, etc. were absolutely the greatest. Few memories of NYC are fonder than doing just that on just the right kind of summer day.

This thread reminds me that there's a fleet of hot trucks parked two blocks away in front of the capitol every day at noon. It's like a fair.
