Does NYC even exist in the DC Universe?

Unfortunately, yes.  Which makes things SUPER CONFUSING.

So does Washington, DC.

Doesn't Wonder Woman live in NYC?  And Kyle Rayner?

Gotham and Metropolis are on the eastern seaboard, right? Where are they in relation to NYC, and where the hell is there room for all these massive things?

Gotham's on the East coast, yeah.  After No Man's Land, there seemed to be a brief attempt to actually fix it in space, which at least led to one solid canonical move: the Gotham map!

There was some comic that came out right around the time that they were getting into the geography, where Nightwing was driving past a highway sign that was like Gotham - 4 miles, New York - 200 miles, Philadelphia - 50 miles, or something like that.  I never bothered to figure it out, but I think that sign could've been used to triangulate where it would be.

I guess I kind of always thought of Gotham City as Chicago and Metropolis as NYC. Oh well.

I've always thought of Metropolis as being more midwesty, given its associations with Smallville and gleaming-city-of-the-future schtick that it shares with Chicago.

Thinking of Gotham as NYC also has the benefit of getting to play "what city is Blüdhaven?" -- Jersey City, perhaps?

There is no canon, there's just a bunch of different ways it's been handled at different times

Gotham City looks to be roughly positioned where Atlantic City is, in our universe. That's kinda funny.

Does NYC even exist in the DC Universe?

No real American city does.

Wait, you guys are blowing my mind. I guess my Marvel-prejudice is showing here.

A full sleeve of birds in flight, basically.  More precise details to emerge...

Also, seriously, if anyone in Chicago is looking to get ink or piercings, Insight Studios is THE place to go.  I've already accompanied two friends who got piercings there - place is immaculate, hospital-clean, and they're incredibly professional.

I looked up those lyrics. They're from a song called "The Golden State" by Flight 409. It's truly, truly wretched. Just terrible.
