Most of their limited stuff comes in 750ml bottles. In my experience, Dogfish is always decent, but tastes like it's worth about 75% of what they charge. Doubly so for the 120 minute IPA.

alex, I will reimburse your shipping or ship you a gift of some kind in return, let me know your preference.
Totally didn't mean it like that, Jim! I'll knock on your door and demand food and drink as a reimbursement if I ever make it to Chicago.

I think Dogfish Head is one of the best breweries in the country, but if you think $12 is a good price to pay for a domestic beer I dunno what to tell you.
PROTIP: to save more cash, simply pour a shot of everclear into a pint glass, then top it off with water.

Lately I've been making a mix drink where I fill a glass half-full with water from the bathroom sink and then top it off with water from the kitchen sink. Then stir. Cheap and delicious!

Woah there, mister fancypants. Plain old water right from the pump is just fine for us regular folks.

if you leave a glass of water on the windowsill, sometimes a mourning dove will poop in it which adds extra flavor

I said from the beginning that I'd reimburse people didn't I? (Except for Freddy)
If an open invitation to crash and eat and drink at my place is the recompense you desire, it is yours, but it was yours already.

Jess, maybe you've posted about it elsewhere and I didn't see, but what do you think of Lexington so far?

So far I rather like it, but keep in mind that the majority of my current life is being eaten by school, and my social life so far has mostly involved people from my department (who are pretty great on the whole, but mostly not Kentuckians). It's a small town, but so far I'm not finding it oppressively so. In a way, given how busy I am, it's sort of nice to have feel like I'm already getting to know the place. It's an interesting mix of what I guess would be the more expected KY element and then the university-inspired liberal vibe, and while there are tons of kind of interchangeably mainstream undergrads, there's also a good amount of funky artsy stuff around, and a really vibrant indie/noise scene. Have already found an awesome dive bar that serves cheap drinks, amazing locally sourced food (never seen that in a dive bar before), and has local shows. But that's the thing, is whatever good thing there is, there's probably not a lot of other options in that category, which I imagine may eventually feel a bit confining. Also, I mentioned this elsewhere, but there's really prominent gay scene here. A lot of gay bars and clubs, and even in the non-specifically gay clubs, I've seen obviously lesbian couples dancing together with no reaction from anyone, and that surprised and pleased me.
So far I like the ultra-friendly sort of Southern (it seems like no one can really agree what region this is, except that it's not the Midwest but not fully the South either) thing, but maybe I'll get tired of it eventually. I never liked that socially reserved aspect of New England though.
Oh, and it's dirt cheap here, at least compared to anywhere else I've lived. Rent, food, beer, shows, everything. I'm much happier living on a grad student stipend here than back home, especially given that it's not like the students I know in Boston are making much more than I am.
And hey, now I know how to shoot several types of guns, so cool?

Bakers had handles of Beam on sale for 24 bucks today. Which means that I've got work to do tonight.

God damn it.
I didn't realize I was this drunk.
I had like six beers or something.
So, listen. I am probably going to have a hangover tomorrow morning UNLESS ____________________.
Fill in the blank PLEASE.

I managed to survive that still-drunk-in-the-morning feeling because, miraculously, there was no headache (I took 2 excedrin right before bed...I wonder if that helped). I've got an upset stomach, but that probably has more to do with stuffing my face with leftovers right before bed.
Anyway, it turned out better than I feared.

Drank with fierce abandon, found my stomach full of strange new whiskey hours later and earned $50 by playing guitar in front of a bar. Fuck yeah, tonight.
