Meh. I could do without Bugs Bunny and the whole anthropomorphic horde. The proposed modernization is less frightening than seeing the Tazmanian Devil and Tweety Bird stretched out over an acre-wide expanse of distended hillbilly flesh. White trash LOVE Looney Tunes.

Frankly, I'm kinda relieved about this development; I'd rather have this totally new character take over the public consciousness, if it means that Warner Brothers stops recycling the classic characters for pablum like "Space Jam."

And lets not forget that Tiny Toon Adventures mentioned my hometown in one episode. The only show not named "Boy Meets World" to do so.

And that's what's wrong with it! Bugsy isn't evil! Or x-treme, or ultra, or any of that neo-shit. He's just Bugs, and he's a classic, a classic that should just be left un-raped by this wave of x-treme that's been coating everything from movies to frozen munchie food.

Funny, I was just thinking about Looney Toons/Merrie Melodies today, wondering if there was ever an LT/MM cartoon about the atom bomb (it's what I'm studying this semester, and they did lotsa war-themed cartoons during WWII, so it's conceivable, right?). My thoughts:

1. Yeah, those pictures  and that marketing pitch are awful.
2a. But I'm waiting to see if they capture the spirit of the original cartoons.
2b. Tiny Toons managed to sometimes, but were too heavy in the Gen X(Y?) sarcasm dept.
2c. The Duck Dodgers stuff totally sucked, as did pretty much every other WB cartoon made after 1950.
3. Taking #2a-c into consideration, I'm not hopeful.
4. If anyone can think of a classic LT/MM cartoon about the Bomb, please let me know cuz I'm stumped.

Not sure if there was ever a TV cartoon made, but I wouldn't be surprised.
