Marduk is one week from tonight... I'm pretty excited about that.

Also, Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and High on Fire on February 1.  Bostaph and Lombardo on the same night!

Melting Point...most recent ad...Ralph Stanley

HUH?!?

Awesome!  Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys at the Georgia Theater was one of the best shows I've seen in town.  I am so stoked on this!

Also, Billy Joe Shaver on Dec. 3rd.  Man, the first week of December is looking good.

Also also, the word "Calendar" is misspelled on their website.

Davy - At the Gwinnett Arena.  Tickets go on sale tomorrow, and they are selling a block of $10 tickets...Not sure how that works, though...

More information here.

That website refers to the "Class" of the Titans tour, and does not mention High on Fire, so I'm not sure if they're on this leg of the tour...

Also, Megadeth's current bassist is the bassist from "When the Children Cry"-era White Lion.

Marduk's at the Masquerade with Nachtmystium, Merrimack, Mantic Ritual and Winds of Malice, but I don't think Black Anvil's playing the Atlanta show, which is something I would like to have seen...

Tickets are only about 16 dollars, and seem to be still available.

See you there?

Good lineup, if you're not familiar with them I think Mantic Ritual would be fun to see, from the album I have they basically seem to worship at the altar of Kill 'Em All era Metallica

That Marduk/Nachtmystium/etc show is in the Phoenix metro on December 3.  It is also $16 here and I am certainly considering going.  Please give reports if y'all go!

Oh man, they were so good though. "Pride" is an excellent album.

Hmmm. One of the concerts I was considering going to next month was a label night of Slaapwel Record ("sleep well records"), featuring Wouter van Veldhoven, Peter Broderick and Steinbrüchel, at the STUK in Leuven. But I just found out how seriously they take the "sleep well" theme there: attendees are asked to bring their pyjamas and toothbrushes, and everyone gets their own single bed for the night. Falling asleep during concerts is encouraged, applause banned (so as to avoid waking up the sleepers), and breakfast the next morning is provided.

Not sure what to think about that.

edit: 14 Euro for concert, bed and breakfast is quite a bargain, I must say. I'd be entirely more likely to be going if it was in, well, just about any town other than Leuven, where my boyfriend's apartment is the more obvious and comfortable place to sleep.

That sounds great! If I lived in that country, I would sleep with you alex. Heart
I love Wouter Van Veldhoven's Four Simple Songs For Five Dead Bumblebees - has he done anything else?

It does sound great. Unfortunately one of the most tangible ways in which I've noticed getting older is that, with each passing month, I seem to get a little less good at getting sleep in unfamiliar environments, more so if unfamiliar people are around, so it also sounds like something that would almost inevitably result in a sleepless night for me, no matter how effective the concerts might be as lullabies.

As for Veldhoven - I'm hardly familiar with him at all except by name, I must admit, but he has definitely done a release on the aforementioned Slaapwel Records. The phyiscal copies are all gone, but a digital version is up here: http://slaapwel.bandcamp.com/album/wouter-van-veldhoven-ruststukken

Dude, you should take your BF with you and share the bed.

That's interesting about the concert environment, though. I know Zoviet France used to hand out pillows at their shows back in the late 80s/early 90s, but this goes a few steps beyond that.

I actually fell asleep at the 40 Watt the only time I saw her. All I remember is that she was on her period and was talking about it CONSTANTLY.

Is that what her tickets cost these days?! Jesus. I probably spent $10, no more than $12.
