Whoa, what is "Guy Picciotto and Mt. Zion"? Does Guy have a full-time new band I haven't heard about?

I am seeing Mission Of Burma in a couple of weeks.

I just realized tonight that it's the same night as my book club night. This happened two months ago, too.

Old person problems.

oh man, I totally forgot to buy tickets for the Screeching Weasel show, and now it's sold out.

I was just offered a chance to man the Food Not Bombs table, which would get me in, but would also make me feel like an absolute douche because, somewhere in West Philly, I'm sure there's a 19-year-old anarchist desperate to see this show who's actually devoted time and effort to FNB and deserves the gig far more than me.

well, whatever, Jughead isn't even there anyway.

Holy shit. I got 300 Athens peeps in my facebook news feed, and you scooped them all. Lots of names to get excited about there--Kelly Hogan, Lambchop, Jack Logan, Dave Barbe, Howe Gelb, Guy Picciotto. It'll be nice to catch up with Elf Power and Will Johnson. Sweet.

I read that a few days ago on the Vic Chesnutt mailing list... For Vic C. fans, this new blog is also very much worth mentioning: http://debriefingthemusicandartofvicchesnutt.blogspot.com/

Whoa, what is "Guy Picciotto and Mt. Zion"? Does Guy have a full-time new band I haven't heard about?

I don't think so, It's just that Guy Picciotto and A Silver Mt. Zion were pretty much together the backing band on Vic Chesnutt's last two albums for Constellation.

Whoah hey - Hold Steady playing no less than four shows that I could conceivably attend in April.  Nice.

Also, how much would you pay to see Levon Helm?  He's here next month but tickets are pricey so I'm kinda wavering on that one.

I'm a superfan and I've heard nothing but good things about his show, so I'd probably pay $100 or so. I'd rather pay $75.

Well, it's actually quite a bit cheaper than that.  In fact, the cheap seats are pretty reasonable at 39.50, with the most expensive at 62.50.  I dunno, the most I've ever paid to see anyone is maybe 45, including fees.  There's some kind of line I almost unconsciously draw at 50 bucks.  I'll have to mull this one over.  Perhaps, like the John Prine show later this month, it will sell out before I make a move, thereby making my decision for me.

Tickets purchased today:  Mavis Staples, Levon Helm, Wilco.  I am now one broke mofo.  But I suppose I shall be a suitably entertained one as well.

Current late Winter/Spring concert plans -

3/6 - Leatherface(!!) -  Asbury Lanes
3/31 - JJ - Knitting Factory - Brooklyn
4/24 - Titus Andronicus - Maxwell's in Hoboken

There's probably a ton more in the general NYC, NJ, Philly area, but I haven't done a lot of searching.

I have half a mind to go see Fishbone and The English Beat in Atlanta on Friday. It's only $20.

hopefully i get approved for the kreator/voivod/nachtmystium bill next week.  i am gonna miss High on Fire due to the Wilco show the same night.  i bet not too many fans of either band have that dilemma.
