Constantly tired, I get nauseated if I don't eat all the time, sometimes I am on fire, i have terrible gas, etc etc. the same general complaints most of my friends have had. I haven't actually barfed but I've done a lot of retching! It's really not terrible, it's just a constant low-level annoyance that makes me want to stay in bed and eat crackers. I had an appointment last week, and got diagnosed with a UTI I didn't know I had, so I'm sure that's not helping any.

Our parents know, and my brother, and the relatives that were at my grammom's for Thanksgiving (via my mom and aunt realizing I wasn't having any of the 12 million bottles of wine they brought). My extended family is kind of big and we're close so the rest of them will find out at Christmas! I dunno about the rest of Bill's family yet, though.

Wee! Congratulations! There's going to have to be an LPTJ jr. in about 14 or 15 years huh? If the internet still exists by then.

I love "my family found out" stories. My great grandma knew my mom was pregnant because she made a face when she was offered pickles, or something like that. Hope you feel better soon!

I've always thought the first trimester is one of the major injustices of pregnancy. All the mothers I've known get sick and miserable and want to slide under their desk. And yet they can't tell anyone!

Yay mixed cats! excellent news! I'd been wondering about how all that was going for you... :-) feeling sick is sucky, but it's all for good (if you can see it that way). I too had the constant nausea, broken by occasional periods of being totally starving, and if I didn't eat exactly the right thing right then it was too late and the nausea kicked in again, and I had to wait for the next cycle.

Weird story - when I was pregnant with the big boy, I had a dream that when he was born he was my cat of the time. Breastfeeding was totally bizarre.

Two baby showers in NYC this week and our car is literally stuffed full of baby stuff. I know there are some things we're forgetting, but we tried brainstorming stuff last night and came up with very little. We're very lucky!

Baby showers are the best.  It is amazing how people like to spoil babies on your behalf. 

You probably don't need much, really.  As long as she has a couple outfits, a safe place to sleep, diapers and wipes, and a way to eat, you're pretty set at first.  If you are interested in some of the other things that have worked for us, let me know.

Thanks! The cats, they don't know yet, and I don't think they will figure it out for a while. Linus is a great mommy and I've always wanted to get him a kitten. He'll just have to deal with the crying.

Miles, when we had showers for people at my current job we just pooled money and bought them soooo much stuff. It's fun to give people things when they're not really expecting it!

Well, the story I always heard was that feeling sick was a good sign that you have lots of pregnancy hormones floating around. It only kind of helped with the fact that I felt like shit all the time. I hope you find a way to deal with it...
