The thread wherein we discuss our dashed hopes and dreams.

Or just minor disappointments. Such as:
The Lean Cuisine cheddar potatoes and broccoli sounds great and looks great, and the cheese sauce is great and the broccoli is great but there is something really weird about the potatoes which renders it inedible.

I was looking forward to seeing some hills and getting some fresh air and walking around and stuff with my parents the next three days in the Ardennes (and, admittedly, to getting a bit of work done in the hotel room while they're out moving about), and now I got a fever.
(I'll still go, and hopefully feel a bit better on day 2 and 3, but tomorrow's just going to be rest, and that's quite a shame.)

Sorry to hear alex, get better soon! (I'm at least confident that you will be cared for quite well!)

I'm feeling a lot better already, thanks. Basically, I came home tonight feeling very tired (because I was a bit sick already), and "home" happened to be a major construction site, as my father was building some new shelves for the kitchen (he had already built some new interior shelves for my previously shelf-less built-in closet the same day -- all from wood that we had only bought this morning at the hardware store), and being in this noisy, messy place when all I wanted was peace and quietness and rest, just put my body under extra-stress. Meanwhile, the mess is gone and the awesome new kitchen shelves are here and things are quiet, and I've immediately taken to feeling much better (though I'll probably continue to feel a bit weak for a while). Other than the fact that sleeping early would probably be good, and I don't feel like sleep right now, I'm good.
I did feel weak and tired and exhausted and feverish for a few hours every day after dinner the last three days though, so maybe I should just stop having dinner.

Come to think of it, you're probably right -- it all started when my parents got here, so they must have been poisoning me with every meal! No idea how they did it with the restaurant meal, but I'm sure they have their connections. Thanks for pointing out the glaringly obvious to me!

i still haven't borrowed a projector from work and played halo on the ceiling with my friend. this is a longstanding dream and possibly the last thing we said we'd do but didn't while at university (leaving aside building a fire safety robot that eats cars, for obvious reasons). it's not quite dashed yet but he did come to stay again the other week which reminded me of how rarely we get the chance. next time...

Is it a frozen meal? I reckon frozen potatoes are really foul. Well, perhaps not that bad, but they definitely go weird.
I had a disappointing prepackaged food moment the other day. MTR Palak Paneer (spinach and cheese) which sounded like a good idea, and tasted great, but looked revolting. Like baby poo. I had to avert my eyes.

I know this thread's title is a joke but every time I see it I'm tempted to go all Woody Allen.

I'm just gonna say I mean Woody Allen the character and not Woody Allen the real-life dude who has done shit I'm uncomfortable with and leave it at that.

I was gonna say, Soon Yi is about my age and when I was as young as that little girl there I don't think Woody Allen was that decrepit. Still, it's kinda creepy knowing his history to see him with a little Asian girl on his lap, regardless.
