To Tweet or not to Tweet? Is twitter useful?

Hi, so i've signed up for the twittering and now that i'm on there, i can't really think of any use for it other than to update my facebook status remotely. (yes, i know super important right?)

do you guys use it?  i cant think of anyone that i would need to really need up to the minute details on.

I just made one for the band.  It's basically just another avenue to jump up and down, wave our arms in the air and try to get people to pay attention to us.  So erm, I guess you could use it for that.

I've never so much as looked at Twitter and don't intend to--not out of some holier-than-thou stance, but because my impression is that it's basically internet crack and I already have a hard enough time keeping up with the comments on Cary Tennis (hannah, did you CT-blogging friend mention the recent stepmom-who-doesn't-like-her-stepkids letter? it had 45 fucking PAGES of comments).

I joined to look at Greg's thing, laughed, promptly hated myself for joining and deleted my account. Same at Whit, too much internet crack. I mean it's less than an hour til my essay should be handed in and I need a lot more work on it but I'm here and on FB, why would I need another thing.

I'm with those two ^^^^ except that I do read Greag's occasionally as you don't have to sign up to read it. I also don't feel like my life is interesting enough to want to tell everyone else about it. I use fb and my blog for those inane personal thoughts.

Honestly guys, I looked at the people I'm following for a few months but these days I don't anymore. I just post stuff that's on my mind and I feel like posting. I may not be anyone that anyone cares about, but I use my twitter like a celebrity.

Also, I have it aggregating all my blogs/tumblr/whatever else, so it's a good way to get all the other shit I write out there to more people.

I'm such a new-media whore.

I think you can do this. There's a fb app to repost tweets as status updates, and another that reposts status updates as tweets!

This has been done with twitter and tumblr.

Hi Mary!  Twitter is ok.  I use it, but not for anything useful.  I got some flack for not updating often enough (god knows why) so I started just tweeting "Poop." every so often and then people shut up.  That's about it.

I probably update more on blip.fm than on twitter these days. I guess I should find a way to make my blip feed post on my blog page, since I haven't posted on it in so long (course, I spent several hours today working on a blog post about the new Jeff VanderMeer novel, which I will have to finish tomorrow because I hit burnout point today. So it's not like I'm not trying).

i mainly use it to follow news people whom i love (like ny1 people and anderson cooper) so that i can get news fed to me. 

i also enjoy funny ones that are useless.  i don't really post unless to reply to something.
