It's certainly been quite useful for mine. As I mentioned above, a couple of the foremost writers in ELT are there, plus quite a few other teachers and organisations sharing resources and suchlike.

I realized yesterday that I hadn't posted my most compelling argument in the "Is twitter useful?" thread.  Two internet friends had a baby earlier this year, and when she was born, her father told the world via Twitter (since he was nowhere near a computer).

They had registered isthebabyhereyet.com, which, predictably, said NO in huge letters.  After the Twitter announcement I congratulated them and, in jest, prodded them to update their website.  The new father sent me a direct message through Twitter with the credentials for the site and told me to go for it.

So, despite that I was 3,000 miles away from the family and had never met them in person, I was able to change the site from NO to YES along with a short message welcoming the new baby, minutes after she was born.  Totally fucking awesome.
