Totally.  I think Kirsten is looking to do a roadtrip in early spring...

It's never crisp, clear and 10 here.  If the sun is out it's automatically 15 at least.

justinh: where are you now? the day after i left was slated to be the start of monsoon season so i accidentally timed it perfectly. we did get a spot of rain here and there during my visit however and i couldn't believe how big the drops were! i got hit by one raindrop and swear i heard it "splat!" another day it hailed and i got hit by one chunk of ice so large i was convinced it would leave a bruise. it's like the clouds in the east are on steroids.

Clare--for sure.  I need to get past my impression of Canberra as "that place where the record stores have more metal albums than in other Australian cities".

CBS, I'm in Australia, which is where I am usually at these days.  Although I leave for the US in about a week and a half....

I was in India during what was supposedly the monsoon season, but that was in 2009 and the monsoon didn't come that year.  In Rajasthan it hadn't rained in like 3 years or something.  The Yamuna in Agra by the Taj was a trickle.  Then I came back to India in Autumn of 2010 and it rained on the reg the whole time I was there.  This time the Yamuna in Delhi was flooding and there was an outbreak of dengue fever.

I'm sure I've mentioned before Armoured Angel, and Metal for the Brain... probably has something to do with it. Gone are the days when you could buy your CDs or graphic novels from Lucy though...

Too bad Metal for the Brain isn't still happening.  2001 is when I noticed the amount of metal in Canberra--which was perhaps the high water mark for that sort of thing.  I also recently learned that some of the guys from the Church started off in Canberra (Steve Kilbey, for one).

I saw Dylan this weekend, and he told me as much. Does it sound like you're going to be pretty busy the entire time you're stateside? It'd be nice for me to try to get over there on the Megabus and get a drink or something.

Clare--Steve seems like a dramatic dude.  But why's he bitter?  Never got the recognition he deserved in C-town?

Jeb--It's hard to tell.  For the first two weeks I'll be working, staying at a hotel and stuck in Bloomington.  However, I reckon I'll be able to make it out evenings semi-regularly.  I'm free after the 10th of August (but doing a fair bit of family time with friend time interspersed) and then I'll be in Kansas for the weekend of the 18th and then I fly back on the 24th.  Maximum party opportunity is probably the weekend of the 11th/12th (but Kirsten doesn't get in until the 14th).  Let me know--it would be rad!

Possibly, or generic anti-Canberra sentiment :-/

Ugh. It's pretty steamy here in NYC, too, but not THAT steamy.

In my FUCK SUMMER news, on the list of Things I Am So Over: spending 20 minutes straightening my already pretty short hair every morning only to have the heat and humidity conspire with said hair's natural tendencies to have me looking like a complete mess by 11 am. All efforts to grow hair to a longer length are officially halted, and tomorrow hairstylist will be given latitude to cut off however much will allow me to pack away all heat styling tools for a very long time. Hopefully I won't end up with a boy's haircut in the end, but I'll risk it.
