Tonight some folks and myself started what will become the Great Omaha Reuben Tour. Basically a few of us just decided to go around and eat Reubens at a bunch of different places, just for kicks. So today we made a couple mentions of it on Twitter and such saying where we would be tonight and when we would be there in case any other friends wanted to join us. It turns out, that someone who knows someone who is the son of the owner of the place we ate tonight saw it and contacted one of the other folks and told us to let them know who we were when we got there. We did and they had tables reserved for us and comped us a bunch of appetizers and dessert and such, I guess to win us over. It was hilarious, they thought we were all important and stuff.
But anywho, the Edamame was real good, the sweet potato fries were fantastic, the Reuben was pretty good, not great, and the bread pudding was incredible. Overall, a pretty good start to the Reuben tour.

I made hummus this afternoon and I think I might have put in too much garlic. Four hours later, I can still taste it. I feel the urge to lick a bar of stainless steel.

That happens every time I make hummus*. No regrets.
* except for the wanting to lick stainless steel part, that has never occurred to me.

I mean, you know about rubbing stainless steel to get the garlic/onion smell off your hands?
And I can't really say it's too much garlic. There's no such thing. It could use a little more lemon juice, though.

I haven't eaten a meal yet today.
I stole some bites from Finn's burrito, and I ate a small bag of snap pea crisps, but that's it.

I had a very large salad and a couple pitas with hummus. Now time to dig into the rest of the pint of Willy Nelson's Peach Cobbler Ben & Jerry's that your last mention of B&J inspired me to get. Ugh. Off the wagon again.

Did you try it? that's the best idea I've heard for combatting garlic-mouth ever. Other than making sure everyone else around you has eaten lots of garlic too.

Hell yes they do. I don't even bother chip-clipping those bastards anymore. The bag will be eaten within a couple hours, one way or another.

No, all I have that's stainless steel and would fit in my mouth are a couple knives and I'm not about to go deep-throating them.

Don't ask me, ask Willie. Honestly, I'd give it maybe a 3.5 out of 5. The ice cream and the shortbread pieces are good, but both could be more peachy. The peach swirl was okay, but it turns into unpleasantly icy, tasteless chunks in parts. The chocolatey ice creams are much better, it's been my experience that B&J's handling of fruit is always lackluster at best.

Hey! Blame Davy. His 2 for $5 B&J talk was what got me on to it in the first place!

It is, to quote Robert Palmer, simply irresistible at that price.
I can't get off this Mission to Marzipan kick that I'm on.
As for the fruit stuff, the Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownie flavor uses a raspberry swirl to great effect, but on the whole, I think you're right. I recently revisited Cherry Garcia and was disappointed. And I remember being unimpressed with the Apple Pie flavor, too.

Yeah, the cherries in Cherry Garcia have always been gummy and tasteless. And I mean, you'd really have to try to fuck up a raspberry swirl.

The strawberry cheesecake flavor is pretty good, but I never get it because I believe that a graham cracker-swirl is no substitute for pie crust pieces.

I kind of want to try the Berried Treasure, but the B&J track record with fruit... I dunno...
