fucking raw power.

Wow, George Romero would be jealous.

How were they without Ron?  I'd still love to catch 'em live.

i'm gonna write my review tonight, but basically loved it. score a 9 out of 10. i loved the two shows i saw w/ Ron as well, but they were tempered by the fact that some dreck off Skull Ring and The Weirdness was played, and out of deference to Ron, nothing off Raw Power. no such limitations last night.

So anyway, I saw John Cale tonight. He's kind of a cutie.

Yeah the show was good, it was in like the symphony hall, and my seats were in the second row. So I spent a good portion of the night watching cale's crotch/knees under the piano, heh. He teamed up with a local orchestra for the show (I forget which one- I lost the program- something official like "the orchestra of ile de france"). It was a good thing too, because his band were those kind of douchey, "professional musician" types. His guitar player pissed me off. They know how to make a Standard Clean Pop Rock Sound I guess. And play a proficient guitar solo those fucks. But all the strings were nice.
And they left right after the show- I took the metro home with a bunch of cellists.

Thanks for the report- looks like I shouldn't be too sorry about failing to make the relatively expensive impulse trip, then.

the 3rd installment of All Tomorrow's Parties, held at Kutsher's, concluded with a massive performance of a minimalist composition, the dirge/drone/noise spectacle of Altar that Boris and Sunn O))) created four years ago. Tons of smoke, incredibly loud, and immovable as a auditory monolith.

I feel so stupid every time I don't go to this event which is 90 minutes from my house when I have a ride and hotel room booked and friends who are also going. What the hell am I so dumb for.

i've gone each time now and it's ALWAYS been a fucking great time. i had my doubts about the Sat/Sun portion of this year's event, but really, that was silly of me.

Ah, I saw facebook friends posting about it--just assumed it was their Athens show. That's a few days away, it looks like.

There's been a motion to change the name of The Melting Point to The Melting Face Point for the night of the show.

I know that at some point I said I would like to come down and get tattooed with y'all but just so you know, there is absolutely no way that Flaming Tusk will be able to play a show with you guys any time in the next few months. I dunno if you were running on any assumption that we could. Sorry.

I wasn't--I don't even know if it's going to be possible to set anything up for my band and Myke's. I'm not the best dude for that sort of thing. We'll see.

I do believe that anyone who can should come hang out and/or get inked that weekend, though.

fucking great show...when Nastanovich is screaming from the edge of the stage during 'Unfair' and your arm is leaping out of its socket in a fist pump motion, you know it's a good show.
