That one looks like a crop of a Richard Barnes. (But apparently it was done by a guy named Manuel Presti.)

I'm a sucker for that shit.  Also, I'm amazed at how well real-life dude in the Black and Blue picture's hair works with the album cover hair.

I can't - when I 'quote' you, I notice it's not a .jpg though, so maybe that's why.

I couldn't see it the first time I opened the thread, but last night when I went to post the reply that Johnp posted above (though obviously I would have included band name and title in my post!), the image was showing.

(Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque)

Huh. Well, it's from rateyourmusic.com, so I guess I should've expected that.

But I mean, that's weird, right? The colors and everything! You don't just randomly choose those colors.

And to make it even weirder, apparently Geffen had to give Gene Simmons some money because he'd trademarked the money-bag-with-dollar-sign logo. I think they gave the money to the wrong person!

Agreed, peacocks. Guess there's a chance Gene Simmons was making a point about trademarks -- all they signify is a bag of money, anyway -- but hell, if he's collecting on the joke, it ain't funny anymore.

Reminds me, sorta, of that notorious lawsuit against John Fogerty by Saul Zaentz of Fantasy, in which Zaentz claimed that Fogerty's song "The Old Man Down the Road" plagiarized CCR's "Run Through The Jungle," whose copyright belonged to Fantasy.

The court, fortunately, ruled that an artist can't plagiarize himself. As if anyone was wondering.

Under his own name, saxophonist Jon Irabagon seems to be continuing the theme set by the band he plays in, Mostly Other People Do The Killing (I've posted them here twice before).

Jon Irabagon - Foxy

Also sorta weird--the skateboard/clothing company Bandwagon used to use that same image as their logo around the time of the Teenage Fanclub album's release. It was the EXACT SAME DRAWING, in fact. I could never figure out if the Teenage Fanclub title "Bandwagonesque" was an ironic reference to the skateboard company, or if Bandwagon's having adopted that image as their logo was an ironic reference to Teenage Fanclub. It was definitely one of the two, though, because there was no way it was a coincidence.

But yeah, I wonder if Gene Simmons ever sued Bandwagon.
