Yeah, it's pretty dry out there... In fact, does anyone else get piercing pains in the middle of their chest or occasionally bloody phlegm in the winter? I think it's dryness.

That's my usual trick. No radiators in this house!

I don't have radiators either (baseboard pipes), so I put a big pot of water (sometimes with cinnamon or vanilla or something) on the stove. you just have to remember to refill it once in awhile and turn the stove off.

Ok. So I'm not nearly as cold as most of you guys even though I am wearing convertible mittens and my coat at my desk but it's really cold! Are heaters with vents that heat the whole place a common thing up north? I have 2 space heaters but can't have them both on at the same time and I have to keep them on low or else my power blows out. The top temperature the spot right next to my bed reached last night was 54 degrees. It doesn't get like this too often down here. And never this early, sheesh.

my house is really cold, too, and the office is chilly as well. it's wearing me down--I have a space heater at home (but that only helps if I'm sitting in one place) and I might need to get one for work, too.
the snow plow finally made it down my street this morning, only to get stuck at the corner. oy. I wonder when mail and garbage pick up and such will get going again...

it's just a little snow to me--I don't have to drive! I can clamber over or around or through it. driving in snow, however, is trickier.
it seems like people are getting extra-stuck this time, [driving, I mean]--I don't know whether more people are trying to drive or there is some ice under there or what.

Is the steam vaporiser not a thing in the US? How about one of those ionising cool mist ones?

Man, it's been mid 40s the last couple days here. This is the sort of winter I can get behind.

64 degrees today! Holy hell! But then in a span of like 2 hours it dropped to 30, with wind chills of 12. And by tomorrow morning there should be a quarter inch of ice on everything. What a tease. Fuck off, winter.

I'm really enjoying the snowy cold winter! I've been running in the snow on the sidewalks in the morning. On the downside, my legs aren't nearly as used to that kind of strain as my heart and lungs, so it's resulted in my thighs feeling like gelatin after like ten minutes. But on the upside, I can
reach my optimal heart rate in no time

Have you guys seen this short film made in Astoria during the blizzard?
http://vimeo.com/18268743
I know it's caused unimaginable trouble for everyone, but I kinda wish we would've been living in the city during the storm. I get a lot of perverse pleasure from huge snowfalls.

What a wonderful video! I liked the shot of he guy shoveling the best. After the two minutes of relentless snowfall that preceded it, the action of shoveling struck me as futile in kind of an adorable way.

Snowing like a certified MOTHERFUCKER up in here.
I have never in 12 years seen Athens covered so completely, so quickly. The snow is falling so thick you can punch through it.

Just checked weather.com to see if it's snowing here. That's pathetic.
