Yes, I think it's very good. I like it better than, I think, anything he's done since maybe Master and Everyone.

Also, the new Hold Steady has potential. The lyrics are key for them, and I didn't pay attention to the lyrics because I'm working, but I thought the music was decent and for a couple songs quite good.

I basically do not read any music press whatsoever, so it's pretty easy to miss a little indie release.

Yeah, I actually didn't mean to express surprise, rather excitement (for you!). There's been very little press on this one.

And Arlo, I also like Superwolf quite a bit, just keep forgetting it when I mentally list Will Oldham records, for some reason.

Superwolf is handily my least-favorite post-M&E record, partially because I think of the first BPB records as a loose trilogy, and Superwolf was a thematic and aesthetic departure from those, in my eyes. Beware is my favorite record since those first three, easily, though for whatever reason I spent very little time with The Letting Go.

Superwolf is actually the record that got me into BPB, but I was coming from a more rock-oriented background and needed that little bit of distortion to ease me into the lower-key stuff.  I still think it's pretty good, or at least has some pretty good high points.

OT:  I've been listening to the new Titus Andronicus pretty obsessively since I bought it last week.  It's not a perfect album, but it is an ambitious and intriguing one, and it's high points are pretty damn high.  So yeah, it's pushing all the right buttons for me at the moment.  "A More Perfect Union" is my favorite song of the year so far.  By a pretty wide margin.

Seems to be ladies of country morning. Just finished Tift Merritt's debut Bramble Rose, and now onto Iris DeMent's great My Life. It may be just because I'm a softie, but I think "An arm's just an arm 'til it's wrapped 'round a shoulder" is a fantastic lyric.

The other two-three times I listened to this album it never really grabbed me, although it was pleasant enough. But for some reason I thought I'd put it on this morning, and it's just perfectly hitting the spot.
