– cat barfing on me this morning
– other cat sneezing in my face this morning
+ a beautiful sunny day
+ I have a mug full of delicious, high octane, cold brewed coffee
+ I have a home made chocolate cupcake
+ I have home made Greek yogurt
– the boss is back from a business trip today
– no new jobs in sight
– didn't sleep much last night
+ slept a lot last weekend
– it is Monday
+ I'm not having as hard a time breathing as I was this time last year
– reinstalling Windows on my regular work computer
– using not-my-own work computer
+ maybe my work computer will actually start working again
– ex called me yesterday to tell me all about his upcoming Euro vacation with his new bff, who just happens to be a girl

if I can just think more about spring and cupcakes and less about exes and jobs, life will be good.

One idea would be not talking to the ex.  Seriously, stop it!

+ internet guy is here to restore my connection (using cribbed wireless at the moment)

+ new neighbor girl let us into her place because it seemed there was a splicing issue there, given that mine went out last week at the precise moment hers was set up

- I had hoped this would be easily resolved, but Comcast dude descended into the basement a half hour ago and has not returned, suggesting this is the clusterfuck I had hoped to avoid and that my landlord has clearly engaged in some shady Comcast-unapproved splicing, none of which I care about

- this is Comcast's third trip to my apartment and I just want my fucking internet back, goddammit.

How are you accurately/reliably measuring a person's weight within .6 lbs? Or rather, within .1 lbs, since I'd assume that's the increment you are working with to come up with .6 as a difference.

Y'know, I was thinking about that as I posted it and I came to the conclusion that it would be in your favor not to bust out the triple-beam in that eventuality because really, who's going to be complaining about not being accurate to the hundredth of a gram? And as far as you're concerned, if you can spin that inaccuracy to your favor, then all the better. But then I remembered that an eighth of an ounce is 3.125 grams and while nobody argues over a hundredth of a gram, being off by a tenth of a gram or so might be construed as poor customer service. Especially considering that if you're dealing in less than quarters or high-grade, your average eighth buyer is going to skew towards pain in the ass.

I bought a gentleman's eighth over the weekend, otherwise known as 5 grams.

Yeah, then I thought about it more and realized that in most circles, it's more of a "baker's eighth" and tends to lean towards around 3.5 grams.

3.5 is pretty much de rigueur in my experience, yeah.

At one point, I read the breakdown of why it's 3.5 in a High Times book, but I've since forgotten.

I did not gain marijuana! I gained -- well, actually some measure of water, probably. I am not measuring accurately, really. I'm just annoyed because my mother in law and sister in law have been plying me with delicious pork ribs and hams while I am trying to slim down a bit. Why must holidays foodz be so tasty.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that amount of weight is well within whatever margin of error your scale has. It doesn't really make sense to consider that be real weight gain or loss—more like good job for maintaining your weight given the delicious holiday food thing if you're trying to diet.

– went in some very dusty places in my house
+ found many lost things, including a LOT of mouse toys, the charging cord for the hand vac, and most importantly, my favorite necklace (didn't find the big paintbrush, weirdly)
– achoo!
– losing things bothers me more than it should, even though I know the art of losing isn't hard to master
– I feel like I've been losing things a lot lately
+ I found most of them! and cleaned up a bit in the process.

I mean, seriously, these slides are beautiful. It's a damn shame that I have to fill them in with words.
