I got nicely dee-ronk last night. I didn't drink all that much, but the 45-minute walk home seems to have reacted to me badly so instead of posting here last night, I fell asleep at the keyboard. Hungover to all hell right now.

I'm wondering why come davy isn't plaing halo with us  There's no way on earth you could be worse than I a m at this game. I'm sad that you don't join!

Sorry! I saw the invite but I was in the midst of hosting a party! We were watching Yanni Live! Or American Ninja, one of those.

B&B comes in a single bottle nowadays, right? Are there other things like that, not counting like newfangled "mixers?"
B&B has been in a single bottle for decades.  I don't see the point, though.  It makes more sense to get a bottle of Benedictine, a bottle of higher-quality brandy, and mix according to personal preferences.

For one thing, while a bottle of B&B is not exactly cheap, it is still way less expensive than buying both ingredients separately. Plus, I like the bottled formula--it's how I was introduced to the stuff.

The aquarium fireplace is indeed excellent.

I'm debating between opening another beer and going to sleep.

Yanni? WTF, davy?!

I wish I'd had a way to post here over the course of the last week while I was on Ragbrai. There would have been some good stuff. Seven days of biking/drinking will do that.

Don't get me wrong, guys, we were watching for shits & giggles. We moved onto Yanni when this guy got stale (which took longer than it should've):

So Blantons has now been mine and it is cry in someone else's beer so as to not dilute yr Bourbon godnectar good. The long, lingering sweet aftertaste is stellar.

Aight, I got a bottle of Rebel Yell bourbon for $10 at Trader Joe's and, frankly, it's boring as shit.  None of the shitty-whiskey markers, just bland and watery.

So my solution is that I'm going to infuse it.

What should infuse it with?

antero: moonshine is a nicer base to infuse... the only thing i can think of to do with cheap bourbon is try and get my houseplants tipsy.

ignatius: maybe switch to herb? paul bowles said:

cannabis sativa and it's derivatives are strictly prohibited in turkey, and the natural correlative of this prescription is that alcohol, far from being frowned upon as it is in other moslem lands, is freely drunk; being a government monopoly it can be bought at any cigarette counter. this fact is no mere detail; it is of primary social importance, since the psychological effects of the two substances are diametrically opposed to each other. alcohol blurs the personality by loosening inhibitions. the drinker feels, temporarily at least, a sense of participation. cannabis abolishes on inhibitions; on the contrary, it reinforces them, pushes the individual further back into the recesses of his own isolated personality, pledging him to contemplation and inaction. it is to be expected that there should be a close relationship between the culture of a given society and the means used by it's members to achieve release and euphoria. for judaism and christianity the means has always been alcohol; for islam it has been hashish. the first is dynamic in it's effects, the other static. if a nation wishes, however mistakenly, to westernize itself, first let it give up hashish. the rest will follow, more or less as a matter of course. conversely, in a western country, if a whole segment of the population desires, for reasons of protest, to isolate itself in a radical fashion from the society around it, the quickest and surest way is for it to replace alcohol with cannabis.

Ginger might be nice—I figure anything that mixes well with bourbon would probably work, so there's mint also, but somehow making it a really spicy ginger infusion sounds much better to me and like a better solution for the boring/watery issue. There's always bacon too.

Work blew today so I'm getting some beer on the way home. I really hope the supermarket still has some Arrogant Bastard b/c most of the smaller shops have stuff that's either boring or Belgians and IPAs. I like my drinks bitter and brown! Or black-brown. Or red. Mmmm red ale.

Taking a spin off of Antero's woe, is there anyway to save a horribly sweet drink from going down the drain? I've thrown out three different stouts and red ales for tasting like a boozy cake from my grandma.

*Other than making a boozy cake to send to my grandma, of course.

You could always mix an overly-sweet stout with a lighter, crisper beer, kind of like a black and tan?  Or even add seltzer to lighten and dry it, because seriously why not, better such blasphemy than waste.

My go-to move for bad bourbon: The Boulevardier.

That's a damn good drink, though I usually do it with rye.  I am afraid that this crappy bourbon won't stand up to the Campari, though...
