I was watching your boys with great interest, Johnp. Sad that it didn't pan out.

I could only watch the live score card on cricinfo, but the wickets seemed to tumble far too quickly. When the O'Brien p'ship was broken, it was as good as over. They'll struggle to progress now.

Spring training baseball games start today. Fuck yes. It's been a long winter.

Stayed up late last night to watch the BBC highlights of England v. India. Even knowing the result in advance, I was still agape at the way it unfolded,, possibly moreso as I knew the result. An astounding game that had everything good about the game and a little controversy, too. Should have watched this live instead of the Ireland v. Scotland rugby.

I was following it live, lucky me. I was terribly hungover but it was still astounding.

Have you caught any spring training Davy? The first game was on MLB.tv and you better believe I watched the shit out of that, but that's it so far.
Hot damn, Freeman is on his way to stud-dom.
I don't care what everyone says about the Phils' rotation, there are too many time-bomb knees on that team for them to avoid key injuries. The NL East is going to be close this year.

I've been keeping my ears open, but haven't watched anything yet. Sounds like Freeman and Prado are off to galloping starts. And with Uggla in the line-up now, it's all pretty exciting!
I'm interested to see how Jordan Schafer performs as a utility guy this year. I've still got some hope for him.
Gonna buy this soon:

Maple Street Press does good work with these annuals.

Yeah, Schaf has had all those problems with his wrist for the last year and half, but supposedly he's been crushing in spring. Could be important if McLouth doesn't perform or if Chipper goes down and Prado needs to take over at third. I would imagine him and/or Mather will be the bench outfielders.
Uggla's a great addition, dude is durable and finally gives us a legit right-handed power threat, plus the ability to do some alternating of lefties and righties in the order. A cursory glance at baseball reference tells me that he mostly batted 5th for Florida last year, with Ronny Paulino as his protection. I wonder what he'll do if we plug him in cleanup with say, McCann and Heyward to follow...
I've seen a couple snippets from that annual on the Talking Chop blog. It looks pretty great. A buddy of mine gets Baseball Prospectus every year and loves that. I'm considering giving it a whirl this year, as I feel like it would appeal to my current love affair with sabermetrics.

And with that, Ireland plays maybe it's best game ever, and beats England! Holy shit!

Holy shit, they pulled it off! I went to bed halfway through England's innings, and your post is the first I saw of the news.

Lord Blair of Kut al-Amara, Lady Sovereign, Sir Stephen Hawking, Sir Sebastian Coe, Michael Portillo, Chris Eubank, Cheryl Cole - we have beaten them all. We have beaten them all. David Cameron can you hear me?
Again, knew the result but not the method before seeing the highlights. Still dumbfounded. This World Cup continues to deliver!
Had to love Nasser Hussain describing Stirling's 32 as a "nice little cameo" so early in the commentary and Atherton saying Niall O'Brien "was probably happy with his 29" before deciding to have a slog.
Your boys took a hell of a beating! Your boys took a hell of a beating!

And just finished a surprising, really confident and well-rounded NZ win over Pakistan. There really has been some very good cricket this WCC.

I'd like to see a goddamn motherfucking World Cup match if it's not too much to ask. I did see some of the first one, but that was before Channel 9 decided to broadcast entire matches. I couldn't watch the second, the third one finished before tuned in and the fourth was called off. Australia's got a couple of fun matches coming up: Kenya on Sunday and Canada on Wednesday.

Man. During this WCC, West Indies have looked more engaged than I've ever personally seen them play. This Eng/WI game is a great one.

What... the... fuck...
23 wickets fall in one day's play between SA and AUS at Newlands
.
I'd try to sum it up, but just read the report. Absolutely batshit insane.

And in the end
South Africa win it at a canter
, after 2 days and 1 session. You won't see a match like that again any time soon.
