Now I am going to see Man or Astro-man? in November. There's at least six more shows I'll go to this fall (or be sad about missing).

POSTING IN A ROW my husband's noodly rock band is playing a show Saturday. My parents are coming with my aunt, uncle, and 13-year-old cousin - it's far away from them, but they're going to stay in a hotel and visit some historic site the next day and the show's on their way. This is going to be awkward and funny.

I'd do that! But I'm not in Paris.
I'm thinking of seeing Sam Amidon next week, as I'm quite taken with his latest. I'm not sure how well it will translate live, though.

John Cale is doing 1919 in Melbourne in October. I'll probably go. In the meantime I arrive in Melbourne the 1st. Dead C are playing 3rd and Boredoms play 9th. I've just booked my Boredoms ticket. That's a pretty unbeatable first week in a city.

Oh man, I wasn't planning to be here this weekend, but just found out that a) dEUS are playing a free show on the market square on Saturday night, and b) Fred Frith is playing a (John Cage-themed/-inspired? details are a bit fuzzy) concert in Heerlen (20 km from here) at the same time. Now I'm not sure whether I should stay here after all, and if so, which one to go to - Frith is less likely to trigger my discomfort in crowds and more likely to be AWESOME rather than just great fun, but dEUS is closer and free.

Just discovered I can't go see Mission of Burma (who I saw last time around) because I am seeing Swans that night. Bummer.
I think my next show or two will be Menomena and/or Liars.

I'm definitely going to see Built to Spill next month. And if they don't play oldies I'll grumble.

So, Merle Haggard just canceled all his shows for the rest of the month (including the Athens date) and that's a bunch of bunk.
But I still have tickets to Slayer / Megadeth / Anthrax on October 1st and Christian Mistress will be playing in Athens on the 18th.
So hooray. I hope Mr. Haggard is okay.

Husband's band playing at the North Star Bar in Philly Sunday
Pavement in Central Park on the 22nd
I was thinking about seeing Titus Andronicus on the 23rd at the unitarian church in Philly, but I might be dead from Pavement/need to buy tickets like yesterday
the Thermals at the church 10/12
Cheap Girls at the Fire in Philly 10/24
Bettie Serveert at the North Star 10/28
Man or Astro-man at the church on 11/7
I'd go see Mumford & Sons in November but that show's already sold out and I'm too lazy to try to win tickets off the radio or something.

just saw them last night, and it was oldies galore. 3/4 of the encore was from there's nothing wrong with love. it was pretty similar to this one:
